Trivia / Supernatural S13 E16 "ScoobyNatural"

Go To

  • Acting for Two:
    • As usual, Frank Welker voices both Scooby and Fred.
    • Fred Tatasciore as Colonel Sanders and one of the green ghosts.
    • In the German version, both Cas and Shaggy are voiced by Castiel's regular voice actor Florian Halm, who's Shaggy's German voice in all recent Scooby-Doo! productions. Rather funny given how much the episode pairs Cas and Shaggy.
    • In the Brazilian dub, both Dean and Scooby are voiced by Reginaldo Primo (who was always the official voice of Dean and replaced Orlando Drummond from 2013 on as Scoob), making the scene where Dean uses Scooby's catchphrase all the more hilarious.
  • Blooper: The end credits listing Eric Bauza as the voice of Cousin Slicker even though that character's name is Cousin Simple.
  • Colbert Bump:
    • For those who have left the show feeling it had declined in quality over the years, the sheer utter weirdness of the crossover ended up bringing more than a few curious eyes back for a view.
    • The crossover has re-interested a few viewers into viewing Scooby-Doo again, particularly the more recent entries in the franchise.
  • The Other Darrin: With the exception of Frank Welker as Fred, the entire cast of "A Night of Fright is No Delight" have been recast:
  • Role Reprise: The current voice actors for Mystery Inc. reprise their roles for this episode:
    • Frank Welker has voiced Fred since 1969 - thus being the only cast member to actually reprise a role from this actual episode - and took over Scooby in 2002.
    • Grey DeLisle has been Daphne since 1999.
    • Matthew Lillard was made the official voice of Shaggy in 2010, following his portrayal in the two live-action films in 2002 and 2004.
    • Kate Micucci became Velma in 2015.
  • Same Content, Different Rating: In America, where Supernatural is produced, it's rated TV-PG-DLV due to being a bit lighter than what the show normally does. However, in Canada, where the show is taped, it's given the equivalent of a TV-14 rating due to being darker than usual for Scooby-Doo!.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • There was apparently always some consideration to do a crossover episode with Scooby-Doo!, but it finally went forward when Jeremy Adams suggested doing it.
    • Jeremy Adams mentioned how there was going to be an original song during the chase scene, but they instead went with the theme song from the original series.
    • At Comic Con 2019, Jim Krieg & Jeremy Adams mentioned at 13:15 that the crossover was once conceived as a DVD movie that would have had the Supernatural characters as the guest stars, rather than the final product being an episode of Supernatural with the Scooby characters as guest stars.
