- Creator-Driven Successor: Not only to 1942, but to the first Aero Fighters as well, since Psikyo was founded by ex-Video System staff. With 1999 trading the 1940s aesthetics for contemporary ones, it goes full-circle.
- Follow the Leader: The series ended-up spawning three direct Korean-developed imitators: Mission Craft (which is notable for consisting near-entirely of stolen Starcraft graphics), the confusingly-titled 1945K III and Wyvern Wings.
- Sequel First: Only the second game was released on the PlayStation outside of Japan, renamed Strikers 1945 in North America.
