Trivia / Slint

  • Creator Breakdown: Probably the creepiest example where the work itself created the breakdown, rather than a specific event.
  • Cut Song: "Glenn" was recorded during the sessions for Tweez, only to be left off the final tracklist. It would eventually surface on the band's untitled 1994 EP alongside an alternate version of "Rhoda".
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Currently "King's Approach" has yet to be officially recorded, so live bootlegs (or YouTube) are the only way to hear it.
  • Short-Lived, Big Impact: Despite only two albums and a posthumous EP to their name, Slint are considered the be the Trope Makers of Post-Rock.
  • Troubled Production: Spiderland is one of the giants of troubled production stories.
  • The Shelf of Movie Languishment: The untitled EP was originally meant to be released concurrently with Tweez in 1989 as a non-album 12" single. However, it was put on the backburner until 1994, when Touch and Go put it out to capitalize on a brief reunion by the band.
  • What Could Have Been: The band included a message in the inside sleeve of Spiderland saying "interested female vocalists write 1864 douglas blvd. louisville, ky. 40205". They were serious about it and did some auditions, but disbanded before they could do anything about it. They never clarified the matter, but there's a pretty popular rumour that one of the auditionees was a Slint fan called PJ Harvey.
