- Cash-Cow Franchise: Ever since the anime came out, the toyline dethroned Super Sentai and Kamen Rider as the top-selling franchise among young boys.
- Channel Hop: From the Tokyo Broadcasting System for the first anime to TV Tokyo for the second.
- The Danza: A case which doubles as a Crossover. Miku's voice actress confirmed in her blog that she indeed enacted the role, then had Crypton Future Media auto-tuned her voice-acting tracks into Vocaloid Miku's style of talk; she also mentioned via an interview that these two Mikus are way different in character, which means Crypton Miku is effectively acting a role within this show.
- Network to the Rescue: After TBS cancelled the first anime to make room for an Olympics-themed talk show (see below for more details), TV Tokyo gave the franchise a new anime series for spring 2021.
- No Export for You: Despite its success in Japan, only Hong Kong and Taiwan has the import licenses for Shinkalion. There were plans for a Latin American Spanish dub, but the dubbed version was canceled due to a voice actors' strike in Argentina, the country when the dub was planned to be made.
- Referenced by...: The Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa Mk II appears in the third Downloadable Content pack for Super Robot Wars 30, as a series (the Shinkalion movie specifically) debut.
- Role Reprise: While the necessary cast members of Neon Genesis Evangelion came back to reprise their specific characters in the Eva crossover episode, Junko Iwao bears a special mention because she voices all three Horaki sisters (two of which make their first appearance in any animated media here).
- Screwed by the Network: Despite the show turning in quite a profit, the show was abruptly cancelled because the channel it aired on, TBS, wanted the slot to air an Olympic-based talk show as a lead up to the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympic Games. Ultimately, the Olympics were postponed by the COVID-19 Pandemic, so the cancellation ended up being meaningless.
- Sleeper Hit: Despite being Screwed by the Network, the anime's focus on Japanese culture, not to mention Japan's status as a railfan hotspot, meant that combined with traditional mecha show elements Shinkalion drew in far more viewers than people were expecting. It also helps that the franchise is a spin-off of TakaraTomy's iconic Plarail toyline, which already had a popular consumer base.
