  • Acting for Two: Every character in the cartoon outside of the washer woman is voiced by Mel Blanc.
  • Bury Your Art: After the short became controversial, Walter Lantz went out of his way to avoid using ethnic stereotypes in his cartoons again, and personally helped prevent the short from being shown on TV.
  • Creator Backlash: Walter Lantz expressed regret for the racial stereotypes in the short, which was so deeply steeped in Values Dissonance that it was considered racist even in the 1940s. Following the controversy that sparked upon its re-release and eventual ban in 1949, Lantz pledged to never insert racial stereotypes into his cartoons again. He also made sure that the cartoon never made its way to television.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The cartoon has not been aired on TV or given an official home video release, and is unlikely to anytime soon. However, since this short is in public domain, it can be found in some unofficial classic cartoon compilations on VHS and DVD.
  • Pop-Culture Urban Legends: For a time, the Wikipedia page of this cartoon claimed that this short had TV airings in several European countries such as Ireland, France and Spain, as well as one airing on Boomerang USA in 2000. No evidence of this cartoon ever making it to television exists, especially since Walter Lantz himself personally helped prevent it from airing publicly.
