Trivia / Remo Drive

Go To

  • Bury Your Art: The band is notorious for this. First they removed EP 1 and any singles that came out the same year from their Bandcamp after releasing the Away EP (which contained re-recordings of a few songs from the EP 1 era, but not all songs were redone and were lost for years). Then a few months after releasing Stay Out Longer, they took that and Away down and replaced them with Demos 2014 (basically both releases remixed and combined into one). Then they removed Wait for the Sun, the "Breathe In" single, and all of their split EPs shortly before Greatest Hits was released, leaving only Demos 2014. Finally, Demos 2014 was taken down around the time Pop Music was released.
  • Canon Discontinuity: Most of their earlier material before they signed to Epitaph was deleted from their Bandcamp and seldom acknowledged by the band.
  • Colbert Bump: Remo Drive briefly gained notoriety within the alt rock circuit when their debut album Greatest Hits was given a glowing review on The Needle Drop. Anthony Fantano was even given a Special Thanks in the liner notes of the Epitaph re-issue.
  • Creator Backlash:
    • The band have effectively disowned anything they put out before Greatest Hits, taking down everything released before that album from their Bandcamp and Spotify (except Demos 2014, which would go down later) and removing those songs from their setlist. Their reasons for doing so are a mix of being dissatisfied with the production, the material, and even their own sound (Erik felt that their early sound was too derivative of Title Fight). This was a major factor in Greatest Hits leaning in a more Pop Punk direction than their previous work.
    • There is evidence to suggest that the band has also come to resent Greatest Hits for overshadowing their later material. Upon Natural Everyday Degredation's release, Erik Paulson had lashed out on Twitter towards anyone who vocally disliked the album and blames the negative reaction to the album on people expecting another album like Greatest Hits. In addition, most of Greatest Hits has been dropped from the band's liveset, even the band's biggest hit "Yer Killin' Me", and when they do perform it Erik botches the vocals. Erik also stated that he "didn't like the fans [Greatest Hits] brought them".
  • Cut Song: Reportedly, 16 songs were considered for Greatest Hits but only 10 made the final cut. A few of them may have been recycled for Pop Music.
  • One-Hit Wonder: The band's only major success was Greatest Hits.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The band has taken anything that came before Greatest Hits off of their Bandcamp and Spotify, so the only way to find these songs are through third-party hosting sites or by tracking down the exceedingly rare physical releases.
  • The Pete Best: Zig Zagged. While Sam Mathys was the band's first drummer, he actually quit the band in 2015 and was temporarily replaced by Austin Voigt (Mathys returned to the band the following year), but most people are not aware of this and assumed Mathys was in the band for the entirety of their early years. Even in videos of their old live shows in 2015, people in the comments assume that the drummer is Mathys trying out a new look.
