  • Creator Backlash:
    • As iconic and memetic as it was, the entirely of pre-rework Avant-Garde France eventually became this for the developers, who regretted turning France into a ridiculously dystopian regime whose leadership was made up of historical figures who in no way deserved to be portrayed as insane dictators. The developers ensured that post-rework Accelerationist France will still be an unconventional, somewhat authoritarian, and unstable regime, but nothing like its current incarnation. Its political leaders will stick closer to the ideologies they actual held in real life.
    • Another detested meme by the developers "Centrist Hitler," where Hitler, defying his dictatorial present, was made into a republican. The Developers have responded to this joke by making his ideology "Reactionary," which is shared by oppressive leaders, in which many were actual Nazis or aligned to Nazis in our timeline.
      • Interestingly enough, in the TSF update, Hitler's ideology was changed from Reactionary to Polyarchy.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Originally, the leader of France was Fernand Léger, a French painter, sculptor, and filmmaker, who's party was called the Mouvement Futuriste Français, with its beliefs including "populistic national syndicalism, hyper-modernization, anti-communism, and the aesthetics of his propaganda." Previously, France had been taken over by the Légions Des Patriotes, a far-right paramilitary organization made up of veterans. In 1934 Léger took over the government following the government's collapse. Now, Léger is only a minister, with his place as head of state being taken by Antonin Artaud, and with the current lore being that France had previously been ruled by the reactionary Action Française party, which had been overthrown following a failed restoration of the House of Orléans.
    • Balbo was originally going to come to power in Italy by staging a coup and would abolish the monarchy, planning to unite the Mediterranean under Italy (ironically, Balbo actually was a republican and this will be updated in the Mediterranean update for the game). There was also a Socialist coalition that would have Italy spread the revolution throughout the Mediterranean if they came to power.
    • France also previously led a faction known as the Marseilles Front, not the League Solar, and did not have Accelerationism as its ideology.
    • Montenegro was either an Italian puppet kingdom or an Accelerationist dictatorship under Radole Gajdić (AKA Radola Gajda, the Czech Legion commander and right-wing politician). Montenegro could conquer the Balkans to form the National Balkan State, and could even eventually conquer Europe and restore the Roman Empire. This path was removed and Gajda is now one of the reunifiers for Russia.
    • There were originally plans for the Straits Commission (one of the states occupying Turkey, and making up the Turkish Straits and the surrounding areas) to be able to form a "Tsargrad Empire."
    • France was originally very memetic, with it being a futurist dictatorship with no good ending. The possible paths it could take included:
      • The Escadron, led by Charles Nungesser "an insane warrior cult who glorifies militarism as a cure for the world" and would eventually proclaim the Etat Iréel, making all of France an extension of Artaud, abolishing individuality, and proclaiming war on reality.
      • There was also the Acéphale, led by Georges Bataille, an anarcho-capitalist elite that would amass wealth and then blow it all on hedonistic whimsies, all while the common people suffered.
      • Finally, there were the Druidistes, led by Marc Augier, who, depending on whether Augier was shot by an Escadron fanatic, would turn France either into an "eco-fascist tribal democracy" if he wasn't shot or an insane anarcho-primitivist thing where everyone lived as hunter-gatherers and which could somehow conquer Europe despite having no weapons or factories.
    • Russia was previously a republic, with Alexander Kolchak ruling as President for Life.
    • The Anhui Clique originally could crown Yuan Keding, son of Yuan Shikai (who IOTL tried to crown himself emperor in 1915-1916, but failed) as Emperor of China.
    • Norway had a socialist revolution with Germany's backing, ending with Sweden annexing Ostlandet after pushing the Socialists back to the mountains, while the Socialists formed the North Atlantic Peoples Council. Denmark had also defeated a socialist revolution, with the remnants fleeing to Iceland. As of now, however, the Monarchists and socialists in Norway are still in a Civil War, while the situation in Denmark is the reverse.
    • Finland was, according to early progress reports, known as the "Finnish Democratic Republic", a far cry from its current form, the Grand Duchy of Finland, a puppet state of Russia.
    • Austria was a republic, but had, for a short period of time been a kingdom for a few years after the Great War, having been an Italian puppet state under the Duke of Aosta. Later in development, when Austria had become a kingdom again, there were plans for an Objectivist path under Friedrich August von Hayek, an Austrian-British economist and philosopher, which were replaced by a Libertarian path under Ludwig von Mises.
    • Mongolia was originally still intact, with the Bogd Khanate still existing at game start.
    • Romania was a very young republic originally, while in the new lore it is divided by a communist Transylvania, Moldavia, and a rump Romanian kingdom.
    • Russia was originally a republic, with Kolchak reigning as an ineffectual dictator. If he succeeded in keeping power, he could either continue his dictatorship or cede power to a very corrupt democratic republic. Furthermore, Drozdovsky (if he came to power) would either side with the market liberals or the solidarists. There also might have been a path for Ayn Rand, who is now in Zheltorossiya.
    • There was a mysterious path that Austria would take if Hitler did badly.
    • Prussia originally could either cede power to the monarchy (either Prince Oskar, Prince Auwi, or Princess Viktoria Louise), keep power and appoint either Goering or Von Schleicher as Reichsmarschall, get couped by Horst Wessel's (a Nazi martyr IOTL) Sturmabteilung, or "somehow get replaced by an insane WWI veteran that thinks he's Alexander the Great."
    • Afghanistan was radical Islamist, with the king-in-exile having an option to return from Persia in order to fix things up.
    • Some states in India included the Islamic Republic of Dinia (similar to Pakistan but smaller), Greater Nepal, which had invaded Sikkim and Bhutan, and the United Church of North India (a hastily created state that was supposed to protect Christians in Assam but ended up protecting everyone in Assam and could either have every faith in the country have their own segregated government or could become Christian socialist and destroy the cast system.
    • Flynn, the president whose path would lead to America's Collapse, was an Anarchist, but is now a Popular Socialist.
    • Portugal solved its dispute between republicans and monarchists by installing a President-King. There was also going to be a path to restore the House of Braganza.
    • There was going to be an anarchist warlord in China called "Big Horse".
    • In early versions of the game, Ethiopia was still in one piece. This was then changed to Ethiopia being in a state of collapse between two rival monarchies, a Somalian monarchy, an accelerationist Ethiopian state, and Beta Israel, a reactionary jewish state. TSF now has Ethiopia unified as a colony of Italy.
    • In very early versions of the game, Canada was ruled by an anarchist.
    • Either Australia or New Zealand could become Odinist.
    • There was a reactionary path for Japan that involved Kumazawa Hiromichi (A pretender to the Japanese throne in the post war period) taking over and turning Japan into a Shogunate (despite there being no known Shogun in-game).
    • Albania was a anarcho-capitalist republic under Enver Hoxha. Now however, It is a kingdom ruled by the King of Egypt (who's dynasty, the House of Muhammad Ali, had originally come from Albania) while Hoxha himself is a reactionary Islamic Fundamentalist (with this being the result of him staying closer to his traditionalist family).
    • Madagascar originally had content, with it starting the game as an independent kingdom whose focus tree would kick off once the Queen died. There was a choice between either the Liberals under Philibert Tsiranana (the first president of Madagascar IRL) couping the government and establishing a republic, the Popular Socialists (then Libertarian Marxists) under Jean Ralaimongo staging a revolution, the Accelerationist Futuristes under Jean Joseph Rabearivelo taking power, or the monarchy holding on(with a path for the collapse of the country into three different monarchies). With TSF that content has been removed and replaced with new skeleton content, with Madagascar now being split between the Socialist revolutionaries in the south and the Accelerationist monarchists in the north (with Rabearivelo himself as Prime Minister).
    • Rasputin was originally the accelerationist leader of Altay, who would establish the Realm of Saints, where you had to sin it up to become a saint, if he unified Mongolia. He has now been moved to the Kazan Military District as a reactionary unifier for Russia, who establishes the Tsardom of Holy Rus if he succeeds.
    • Czechoslovakia and Transylvania were both originally autocratic monarchies. Coming with TSF, however, Czechoslovakia has been divided, as Austria now has control of Czechia while Slovakia and Transylvania are both puppets of the communist Hungarian regime.
    • Originally, Zheltorossiya would collapse if nothing was done about the famine. The collapse would have Kasimir Malevich ruling Green Ukraine and Harbin City (the remnants of the old republican government) having the potential to go accelerationist under Grigory Fajda, or reactionary under the Black Hundreds, who could reunite Russia in the most difficult path in the game. Now, Zheltorossiya will collapse if Trotsky and Chapayev gets assassinated after the military takes over. Fajda is now the reactionary leader for Green Ukraine, while the old Harbin content has been removed and replaced with an option of either Gastev and Rosenbaum, respectivelt turning to Syndicalism and Individual Anarchism after the Zheltorossiyan Collapse. The Black Hundreds path exists as an alternate path of Kolchak and a Post-Zheltorossiyan Collapse warlord under Konstantin Rodzaevsky.
    • Austria originally had an option between Pölzl (then Hitler) as a reactionary centrist, Engelbert Dolfuss (who could crown a queen who could overthrow him herself), and Ernst Röhm as an accelerationist dictator with homoerotic tendencies. In TSF, Pölzl became a polyarchic leader of Austria who, like Goebbels, was severely toned down. Ernst Röhm was moved into Germany proper, where he can serve as Reventlow's Head of Military Intelligence. Engelbert Dollfuss was removed as a path and will become the Minister of Interior if Pölzl comes into power.
    • The Kavkaz Society originally couldn't reunify Russia, and was stuck with conquering other places like Iran, Central Asia, and Tibet. Alexei Tolstoy was also a leader, but ended up being replaced by D. S. Mirsky.
    • Bogdanov was originally the accelerationist leader of Belarus, he was moved to Zheltorossiya.
    • Frahm was originally a progressive leader for Germany who could ally with Nitti if he came to power in Italy. In TSF, Karl Popper replaced him as the progressive leader for Germany, while Frahm became a potential Spartakist leader.
    • Goebbels' path basically involved him becoming a German Stalin who turned Germany into an Orwellian dystopia. In TSF, Goebbels was severely toned down. While he is still nationalistic and authoritarian, he is nowhere as bad as his OTL counterpart, and isn't a raging antisemite. This was changed to reflect Goebbels' socialist views before he joined the Nazi party.
    • Russian-controlled Kazakhstan was originally divided into two governorates, being the Orenburg Military District and the General Governorate of the Steppes, led by Alexander Dutov and Lavr Kornilov respectively. In the current version, they united into one called the Kazan Military District.
