Trivia / Persona 5: The Phantom X

Go To

  • Content Leak: Limited access did not stop fans from datamining everything available in the game's APK at the time. Points of interest include new Star Arcana character Yukimi Fujikawa as a gacha summon and the discovery of a Sophia icon in the game files. Models of previous games' Personas such as Izanagi and Asterius were also found in the game files, but its New Work, Recycled Graphics nature leaves this part as Epileptic Trees.
  • Executive Meddling: Due to censorship laws in China, several Personas had to be redesigned, ranging from Personas exposing a lot of skin like Lamia (who is naked from the waist up with only her hair hiding her naughty bits) to even Personas with skulls in their design (such as Bugbear, who has a pile of skulls stuffed inside of them as seen in the tear in their stomach).
  • No Dub for You: All existing promotional material and beta content is exclusively dubbed in Japanese and Chinese, with no English dub in the works.
  • The Other Darrin: This is the first game in the Persona series to have a brand-new voice actor for Igor, Hōchū Ōtsuka, after the character was post-humorously played by Isamu Tanonaka via archived voice clips since Persona 4: The Animation (though he wouldn't reprise the role for Persona 3 Reload).
  • What Could Have Been: When first shown as CodeName X, Yukimi Fujikawa was originally called Yuki Takikawa. The reason for this change is currently unknown.
  • Word of God: A Q&A session in Bilibili explained that the Phantom Thieves from The Phantom X and the Phantom Thieves from the original 5 are linked due to a certain event. It also mentioned that the world in this game is a parallel world to the original Persona 5 world. Summary here.
  • Working Title: When announced in 2021, the game was titled CodeName X.
