The identical plot points include — an evil force spreads nightmares to the Mane Six, Luna meets with them and gets their help in combating it, the evil force grows out of control and attacks Ponyville, the citizens band together to fight it off, and as part of its defeat Luna must confront her lingering guilt over her actions as Nightmare Moon and comes to terms with it.
