- Accidentally-Correct Writing: Depending on whom you believe, "Why Michelangelo Didn't Paint the Last Supper" is either this or a deliberate Genius Bonus. The painter Paolo Veronese had to change his wild, grand depiction of the Last Supper after investigation by the Roman Inquisition.
- Corpsing: A surprising amount:
- Graham Chapman has a hard time keeping a straight face after Terry Gilliam vomits into his policeman's hat during the Crunchy Frog sketch.
- Michael Palin cracks up at one point in the Argument Clinic sketch.
- Throughout most of the History of the Joke sketch, Terry Gilliam seems to be on the verge of laughing.
- In the Dead Bishop sketch, Eric Idle starts off the sketch by making Terry Jones corpse badly, but by the end, pretty much everyone on stage is barely able to contain their laughter. Apparently this was a common occurrence with live performances of the sketch. It doesn't help that they also have technical problems, which include a flying wig and microphone feedback.
- Cut Song: Neil Innes' "Stoop Solo" backed by Carol Cleveland as a three-headed backup singer.
- Deleted Scene: The following sketches from the live show were cut from the film release: The Llama (opening sketch), Gumby Flower Arranging (second sketch); Mrs. Thing and Mrs. Entity (Pepperpots sketch); Terry Gilliam's "A Christmas Card" animation; and, most surprisingly, the Dead Parrot sketch.
- Enforced Method Acting: John Cleese agitation as the theatre attendant during the "Albatross" sketch was genuine. Many members of the audience were intoxicated and were calling out lines and reaching out to grab him and the prop, angering him. He managed to play it for laughs by shouting "You're not supposed to be smoking that!" at someone.
- The Other Darrin: Several characters had different performers from their television counterparts.
- The "Crunchy Frog" sketch featured Graham Chapman as Inspector Praline instead of John Cleese, and Terry Gilliam in Chapman's old role of Constable Parrot.
- Eric Idle sang "The Lumberjack Song" instead of Michael Palin. Carol Cleveland also replaced Connie Booth as the "best girl" by his side.
- "Communist Quiz" had Michael Palin replace Terry Gilliam as Che Guevara, and Gilliam replace Basil Tang as Mao Zedong.
- Promoted Fanboy: Python fan Kim "Howard" Johnson participated as an extra.
