Trivia / Monster Hunter Generations

Go To

  • Bad Export for You: Monster Hunter XX got a DLC Palico with the Weakness Exploit skill, but the game's non-Japan counterpart (Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate) never did, as Capcom decided to discontinue updates for GU. The only way to get it in GU now is to either hack the game or receive a Palico with the skill from another player.
  • Dummied Out:
    • The Palico/Prowler version of the Weakness Exploit passive skill (which increases Affinity by 50% when hitting a monster's weak spots) is not officially available in the Western builds of the game due to Capcom's Western branches not releasing the DLC for the Palico that has it. The skill still exists in the game data complete with translated text, but the only way to get it is through hacking, or if you don't wish to do so yourself, you'll have to receive a Palico that has it from another player in an online lobby.
    • There's a "DUMMY" Palico Skill that doesn't seem to do anything and uses up two Palico Memory slots. Like with the Palico version of Weakness Exploit, there's no way to legitimately obtain it.
  • Late Export for You: Although Monster Hunter games taking about 6-8 months to reach the West was common practice until World, Generations Ultimate notoriously took over a year and a half to get localized for overseas markets. By then, its sequel Monster Hunter: World had already been released worldwide.
  • Marth Debuted in "Smash Bros.": Amatsu, Yukumo Village, and the residents of the latter make their international debuts here after having first appeared in the Japan-exclusive Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.
  • No Export for You: The 3DS version of Generations Ultimate was only released in Japan. All other regions would only get the Nintendo Switch version. By the time the game was getting localized, the 3DS was in the process of being gradually retired by Nintendo and the Switch’s sales life was in full swing, so it makes sense from a business standpoint.
  • Sequel First: World was released back when there was no official public word of whether Capcom was going to localize Generations Ultimate for non-Japanese regions. GU would eventually get the export treatment in August 2018, seven months after the global release of World.
