- Follow the Leader: Revered and worshiped by the likes of Deftones, Gojira, Lamb of God, Periphery and tool, and subsequently copied by legions of Djent bands. Even musicians outside of metal have taken influence from their use of polyrhythms and put it into their own music.
- One-Hit Wonder: Almost everyone who knows Meshuggah would immediately bring up "Bleed", largely due to it being featured in the video game Rock Band.
- The Pete Best: Played straight with Niklas Lundgren and Peter Nordin. Averted with Gustaf Hielm, as he's been a member of Pain of Salvation for two stints (1992-1994 and 2011-2020) and a session bassist for Dark Funeral.
