Trivia / Mega Man: Fully Charged

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Vincent Tong plays both Mega Man and Namagem.
  • Casting Gag: Many of the voice actors are from The Ocean Group, the same group that did the 1994 cartoon and the NT Warrior anime.
  • Channel Hop: A before the series example- it was originally going to air on Disney XD, but jumped to Cartoon Network before airing- a fatal mistake, given the way they treated the show. Or maybe not considering Disney XD's treatment of shows not done in-house.
  • Creator Backlash: Two anonymous workers on the series, in this Rockman Corner article, stated that while they enjoyed working on the show, they were irritated with Cartoon Network for its abysmal time slot and non-existent advertising (enough that one of the heads of the crew apparently flew over to California to complain about it).
  • Follow the Leader: It’s believed that Fully Charged was trying to follow in the same vein as Sonic Boom and Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, two other shows that featured radically different takes on classic video game series, and the fact that the premise was revealed while both shows were still airing. That being said, a delay caused the show to start airing in 2018, long after production on both shows had ended.
  • Friday Night Death Slot: The show was given a horrible time slot at 6:30 in the morning on Sundays, was only reran on Boomerang, and shifted between Saturdays, Sundays and weekdays at 12:30 PM throughout its run before Season 1 ended on a Monday to Thursday premier schedule in the aforementioned weekday timeslot.
    • While one week of premiers happened to be Spring Break, its final episodes would air while the show's target demographic would be in school.
  • Invisible Advertising: The series has had staggeringly little promotion, especially given that at the time a new game, Mega Man 11, was announced. Any information on the series was only found by looking at company websites that had some relationship with the series prior to its release. The premiere date of August 5, 2018 was announced on July 17th of that year, giving less than three weeks for viewers to prepare. When it was advertised, it was only on YouTube, and even then only the first few episodes were previewed on Cartoon Network's video channel, with the official Fully Charged channel barely having activity at all.
  • Refitted for Sequel: Zero being Suna was planned for season 2 of the show, but when that fell through it was used in the comic instead.
  • Schedule Slip: The series had a tentative 2017 release date, but it got bumped up to 2018 for unknown reasons.
  • Screwed by the Network: On top of Invisible Advertising, when the air date was announced only a few weeks before it premiered, the show was premiering episodes on Sunday (and later Saturday) mornings at 6:30 A.M. Eastern. This has become the usual treatment Cartoon Network gives third-party action shows, and just about any show not named Teen Titans Go!. Like Sonic Boom, the show did get reruns on Boomerang at a more decent evening timeslot, but Boomerang isn't as widely available as Cartoon Network and the show was eventually removed from both network's schedules. The low ratings ended up being a huge factor in why season 2 of the show never got off the ground. It eventually returned to the latter in January 2019.
    • The final batch of episodes suddenly transitioned to noon on weekdays with no prior warning, meaning even people invested in the show could miss out.
  • Sequel in Another Medium: The 2020 comic book which continues where the TV series let off.
  • Spoiled by the Merchandise:
    • At least one press release for the series not only mentioned Namagem, whose existence was supposed to be a secret until the "Lightfall" two-parter, but also explained that he's Mega Man's twin brother, answering one of the biggest mysteries of the series before the series had even started.
    • Promotional pieces of artwork shown at Comic-Con showed Cut Man prior to his debut. It also showed Lord Obsidian.
    • Episode press releases are ridiculously spoilery, with many revealing the exact plot points of an episode, up to and including the series finale.
  • Stillborn Franchise: There were likely plans to make this into a legitimate universe for Mega Man, but with the aforementioned screwing over the show got and the backlash the changes it made drew, Fully Charged never lasted beyond its one season and comic.
  • Uncredited Role: A strange version. While Vincent Tong is credited for playing Mega Man, he's not credited for Namagem in most of the episodes he appears in.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • A now-private Film Roman demo reel from around January 2017 showed footage from an unreleased twenty-minute 2d-animated pilot for the series, using the original, more game-accurate designs for Fire Man and Aki/Mega Man, albeit more flatteringly refined from its initial reveal. It was then decided that the series would be animated in 3d.
    • Another leak showed the title sequence for the show, which wound up being far different than the final product.
    • Air Man and Wood Man's designs looked more similar to the Classic series in the concept art phase. Other hypothetical aspects included Ashley being Ambiguously Brown, or sporting colors similar to that of Chelsea, while Bert Wily had at least one design utilizing the labcoat of his namesake.
    • Season 2 was in the planning stages, but didn't happen due to disagreements between Dentsu and DHX.
      • All that is known of Season 2 is an episode title for Episode 2, "Duel of the Cool". What this episode would have been can only be speculated upon.
    • There were also plans for a second wave of toyline figures which would have included Sgt. Night, but this never happened.
    • It was rumored that there might have been a video game for the series, but this never came to fruition.
  • Working Title: "S.W.I.S.H." was originally titled "Enter Namagem". It was likely changed in an attempt to hide Namagem's name, even thought that had been leaked several months beforehand.
