Trivia / Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch

Go To

  • Approval of God: CutmanMike voiced his approval of GaMetal's cover of this game's final boss themes, Thy World Consumed and For Everlasting Peace.
  • Dummied Out: Campaign data for botmatches on certain absent maps exist; while most (such as MM1DW2 and the later three Mega Man 7 castle stages) were part of the campaign in early versions, three maps (MM2DW3note , MMBDW1note , and MM9DW2) have botmatch data despite never having been part of Single Player.
  • Milestone Celebration: For its 10th anniversary, the V6 trailer premiered on YouTube.
  • Missing Trailer Scene: The V4 and V5 trailers feature scenes that look like they'd be part of the game and not scenes created just for the trailer. The former features a cutscene where various robots gather for a rally by King, followed by the Robot Masters switching from their normal color schemes to the King Team colors; the latter features an apparent gameplay scene with the player facing Wily while the Wily Machine is hidden in the darkness, indicating that a boss battle was about to happen.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: In updates, fan-created maps in map packs can get promoted to become official replacements for maps in the core game. V5B includes new Capture the Flag stages from a community-made collaboration map pack.
  • Production Nickname: The Evil Robot/Sunstar fusion from Chapter 13 (prior to fusing with the Wily Star and becoming Eclipse) was nicknamed "Baby Eclipse" during development.
  • Schedule Slip: Core expansions between versions can take from roughly one and a half years to a little over two years before they're finished (as Word of God confirmed that the next core expansion does not begin production immediately when the current one is completed). For reference, the jump to V3 from V2 took 17 months, the jump to V4 took another 17, the jump to V5 eclipsed both by spending 26 months in pre-development and development, and the jump to V6 manages to trump every single one of them by taking a whopping 51 months.

Assorted Trivia

  • Two members on the game's official Discord group were able to calculate how tall Gamma Mk. I and Mk. II are in a real world length.
    • For Mk. I, the member did a comparison of Gamma to Mega Man by converting how many pixels make up Mega Man's official height (132 cm or 53.54331 inches) and compare that to Gamma's. The result was that Gamma would be 36.025 meters tall (or 39.4 yards), slightly shorter than the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro.
    • For Mk. II, the second member summoned a Gamma Mk. II object and had it in the same frame as Eclipse, as well as one of the tallest buildings in the fight. The tallest building was calculated to be 800 meters tall (less 23 meters than the Burj Khalita in Dubai upon its completion). Eclipse is 2.5 times taller than the tallest building with half of that mass being the Wily Star, making the Wily Star a single kilometer and Eclipse as two kilometers. After summoning Gamma Mk. II, it was calculated that it would be .71 times as tall as Eclipse, making it 1.425 kilometers from the bottom of its toes to the tip of its horns.
