Trivia / Luck (2022)

Go To

  • Channel Hop: The film was originally to be released by Paramount Pictures before Apple TV+ took over.
  • Fake Scot: The Scottish black cat Bob is played by English actor Simon Pegg. Subverted when it's revealed that Bob is actually English.
  • Out of Holiday Episode: The use of green in the marketing and focus on luck and leprechauns would make one think of this as a Saint Patrick's Day film, yet it released in August. This could be because it was supposed to be release in February of 2022, but had to be pushed back due to a state of COVID rising.
  • Production Posse: John Lasseter produces the film, bringing aboard Peggy Holmes (who directed films for the Disney Fairies franchise, which Lasseter executive produced) to direct and actor John Ratzenberger (a Pixar regular) as part of the cast.
  • Word of God: Sam Greenfield is of Irish-Pilipino mix.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Emma Thompson was originally part of the cast, but after the controversial hiring of John Lasseter as producer, she left the film. Jane Fonda eventually took over her role.
    • At one point, Alessandro Carloni (Kung Fu Panda 3) was set to direct the film before being replaced by Peggy Holmes after he left as a result of creative differences. His plans for the movie were more on the High Fantasy side, as a "thousand year old war between good and bad luck", but Lasseter shut down these concepts for a more Pixar-esque narrative about holism in regards to both.
