  • Creator Backlash: Lee Gaze admitted that he started falling out of love with the band after they changed to a more "emo" sound and image.
  • Follow the Leader: The band's image tended to follow what was big on American rock radio. For instance, when nu metal was big, the band looked like this. By the time their third album was out, emo had taken nu metal's place, and the band looked like this. To a lesser extent, their sound also followed this pattern, but not to the same degree. For instance, their nu metal albums didn't include rapping or follow the paint-by-numbers song structure of, say, early Linkin Park, and when their look went emo, their sound simply went from alternative metal to alternative rock.
  • He Also Did: Stuart Richardson runs a recording studio in Florida, and has produced and mixed albums for several artists. He was also a stand-in bassist for Thursday in 2017 and 2022.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The band's discography was out of print for several years following Watkins' conviction. You still can't listen to The Betrayed and Weapons on streaming services.
  • Named Like My Name:
    • Ian Watkins shares his name with H from the British pop group Steps; when Watkins was convicted of his crimes, H was attacked on Facebook and Twitter because his name is also Ian Watkins.
    • Jamie Oliver shares his name with a British celebrity chef.
  • No Export for You: The Betrayed was not released in North America.
    • Before that, the American version of Start Something drops "We Are Godzilla, You Are Japan." Instead, it splits "Sway..." and the outro into two separate tracks.
  • The Pete Best:
    • Paul Stepczak was responsible for the turntables and sampling on the first version of Thefakesoundofprogress. When the band remastered the album, they had Jamie record Stepczak's parts.
    • Subverted with Ilan Rubin, who had a short and unmemorable stay in the band yet went on to become a live member of Nine Inch Nails, a live member of Paramore and a full-time member of Angels & Airwaves after his stint in the band as well as developing his own solo projects. He was even inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame as an associate of Nine Inch Nails, becoming the first inductee to have been born in the 1980s! Richardson has stated since that he feels that Rubin used being in the band to get himself higher up in the music industry, something he isn't bitter about Rubin for doing.
    • Inverted with Luke Johnson. He joined the band when it was incredibly successful, followed the rest of the members into No Devotion, but then decided to leave No Devotion partway through the making of their debut album. He now plays in Lowlives, a much lesser-known band that features ex-The Defiled frontman Lee Downer.
  • Role-Ending Misdemeanor: Ian Watkins got caught in 2012 trying to buy and have sex with a one-year-old girl, as well as having tons of child pornography images. After some attempts to fight the charges, Watkins finally pleaded guilty and is now serving a 35-year prison sentence and is registered as a sex offender. The band split soon after this shocking reveal, and the other members subsequently formed a new band called No Devotion.
  • What Could Have Been
    • The band originally wanted Travis Barker to play drums on Liberation Transmission before Josh Freese stepped in at the request of producer Bob Rock.
    • The band tried writing and recording an album with John Feldmann between Liberation Transmission and The Betrayed, but they scrapped almost all of it due to feeling like it sounded over-produced.
    • Stuart Richardson nearly auditioned to join 30 Seconds To Mars as their live bassist, but was told not to progress further by the band's management as Jared Leto reportedly had a behind the scenes feud with Ian Watkins.
    • In early December 2012, Watkins and Lee Gaze met to shoot their fourth music video from Weapons, this time for the song "Somedays". As only the two of them were present, the rest of the band was going to appear via archive footage. However, due to Watkins' arrest just a few days later as well as eventual conviction, the video will most likely never see the light of day. Gaze later said that the footage had been lost.
    • At the time of Watkins' arrest, the band were as close as 2 weeks away from signing a new major deal.
