The 1989 film

• Channel Hop: The film was financed by Vestron Pictures, but financial issues led them to sell the North American rights to this and a few other films to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (who released it under their United Artists brand). The rights to the film have since reverted to Vestron's successor Lionsgate.
• Real-Life Relative: Fred Savage's brother plays... his brother.
  • Kara Savage, Fred and Ben Savage's sister plays a background monster in a brief scene.
• Star-Derailing Role: Between this and The Wizard being released in the same year, studios' desires of turning Fred Savage into a movie star after he got hyped up with The Princess Bride and The Wonder Years vanished.

The 1997 literature/cartoon franchise

• What Could Have Been: A CGI revival consisting of 65 episodes was slated to be released in spring 2016, according to Foothill Entertainment, which never came to be.
