- Adaptation Name Change: Night Life gives Keith Dingbar's name as "Kerry Dewar." Vance was originally named Wayne in both previous versions of the novel. Connor was previously Ben in Trent's Inferno and Mike in Night Life.
- Adaptation Title Change: Was previously Night Life in 2016 and Trent's Inferno in 2019.
- Tempting Fate: Trent's Inferno contained a short story by this title, about a lonely, deeply religious, and possibly schizophrenic Freshman undergoing a Crisis of Faith while courting an artsy, edgy Senior after he finds out she's a succubus named Fate. Trent can't figure out how to end it, however, and doesn't know if it should end with the protagonist locked in an asylum or finding the den of the succubus full of the bones of her previous victims. After Trent met Diane, he figured it out. The story ultimately ended with both of them falling in love and her killing his abusive mother, and Trent presented this as a Valentine's Day present to Diane. This was probably edited out because it was directly tied to an Aborted Arc that first appeared in Night Life, in which Trent was abused by a different woman prior to being abused by Diane, and when he was significantly younger. Another likely reason it was dropped was to streamline the already lengthy final book.
- Word of God: Trent is a high-functioning autistic person, as is his creator.
