• Early Draft Tie-In: As discussed regarding Mamoru Oshii's involvement with the earlier drafts of the film, the reverseable cover for Discotek's Blu-Ray release shows an alternate poster for the film, showing Lupin and Fujiko using golden weapons while Jigen and Goemon face off with Zenigata. In the background behind Lupin is the Tower of Babel amongst upside-down pyraminds shooting lightning from their tips at all sorts of New York junk. Even further in the background is the face of Satan from behind the Tower, suggesting that the idea of the Prince of Darkness' involvement was cut later on.
• Real Song Theme Tune: The Song of Babylon. It is an actual Nursery Rhyme written in 1801.
• Shout-Out: The liner notes on the Discotek Blu-Ray release talk about the chants that Lupin and the Marciano gang say early in the film, with the first one mentioning that "So-sora" does not refer to the Japanese word for "sky" nor to the protagonist of Kingdom Hearts.
• What Could Have Been: Hayao Miyazaki was approached to direct the third film, but he was both busy with Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and uninterested in revisiting Lupin anyways. Mamoru Oshii was then to direct this film, and with the help of Yoshitaka Amano, even made some concept art. However, his plans were considered too unusual for Lupin (though the final product isn't that less bizarre).
  • Under Oshii's direction, Lupin would attempt to steal the fossil of an angel, an insane architect would build a Tower of Babel in the heart of Tokyo, and Lupin would transcend reality.
    • Oshii's idea for his film would later be reused in episode 11 of Part 6, with Lupin and Fujiko tasked with stealing an archaeopteryx fossil, finding out that it is in fact one of a fallen angel.
  • Dub-related. This film would have been dubbed much earlier and by Geneon, alongside the rest of Parts 1, 2, and 3, as well as a possible re-re-dub of The Castle of Cagliostro. Unfortunately, Geneon was hit with financial problems causing them to stop dubbing after dubbing the Mystery of Mamo and up to episode 79 of Part 2.
• You Sound Familiar: Kowalski is voiced by Chikao Ohtsuka, who had previously voiced Goemon in Part 1 and Zenigata in the Pilot film.
