  • Dawson Casting: Bess Armstrong (30 years old at the time the miniseries aired), Arielle Dombasle (30), and Brooke Adams (35) played teenagers during their characters' boarding school days.
  • Fake American: Brit Trevor Eve plays American Tom Schwartz.
  • Fake Brit: American Brooke Adams plays Brit Jennifer "Pagan" Trelawney.
  • Fake Nationality: Numerous:
    • American Phoebe Cates plays Lili, who was born and raised initially in Switzerland but spent ages 6 - 16 in an Eastern European prison camp.
    • Englishwoman Angela Lansbury plays Maxine's French Aunt, Hortense.
    • Englishman Anthony Higgins plays Abdullah, who is North African/Middle Eastern.
    • Englishman Anthony Quayle plays Swiss doctor Dr. Geneste.
    • Czech Herbert Lom plays the Swiss head of the boarding school, Monsieur Chardin.
  • The Other Darrin: In Lace IInote  Most of the cast did return, but Deborah Raffin replaced Bess Armstrong (perhaps Armstrong's previous experience with sequels drove her to ask for more money to come back). Lorimar decided to recast.
    • Also, Nick Cliffe was played by Simon Chandler in Lace and Michael Fitzpatrick in Lace II.
  • Ratings: The first part of the miniseries won its time slot with a rating of 28.2, which beat the network premiere of Star Wars: Episode 4: A New Hope (25.1) on CBS and a repeat of Urban Cowboy (10.1) on NBC. The second part, in which the identity of Lili's mother was revealed, drew an even higher rating of 31.7, which again beat all competition (sitcoms on CBS and a Bob Hope special on NBC).
  • Signature Line: Lili's question to her potential mothers, "Incidentally. . . which one of you bitches is my mother?" was named the best line in television history by TV Guide in its 1993 issue celebrating 40 years of television.
