  • Awesome, Dear Boy: Robert Taylor only accepted the role of Lancelot for the chance to work with Ava Gardner.
  • California Doubling: Some of the opening battle was shot in Dublin, Ireland.
  • Cast the Expert: Irish soldiers were cast as the extras in the battle scenes.
  • Creator Backlash: Robert Taylor felt he was miscast as Lancelot, and agreed with critics that he was too old for the part.
  • Dueling Works: With Prince Valiant (1954), another swashbuckler set in the court of King Arthur. The former's release was moved back several months to avoid competing too much. Knights of the Round Table won out, grossing four times its budget, while Prince Valiant barely broke even.
  • Fake Brit: Robert Taylor, Ava Gardner and Mel Ferrer are Americans Not Even Bothering with the Accent.
  • Uncredited Role: Several actors went uncredited - Ralph Truman as King Marr, Henry Oscar as King Mark, Desmond Llewellyn as a herald and Patricia Owens as Lady Vivian.
  • Underage Casting: Stanley Baker was only seven years younger than Anne Crawford, who plays his mother.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The film had been talked about since the 1930s, with Clark Gable in consideration to play Lancelot. It was scrapped when World War II broke out.
    • Elizabeth Taylor was offered the role of Guinevere in the hopes of reuniting her with Robert Taylor from Ivanhoe. She refused, not wanting to play another Damsel in Distress, and the role went to Ava Gardner.
    • George Sanders was cast as Mordred, but fell ill right before filming and had to be replaced with Stanley Baker. James Mason was also offered the role.
