  • Executive Meddling: The staff was told that children were supposedly being confused over humans being the antagonists, forcing the third story-arc to feature aliens, instead.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: Yukiko was meant to be a series regular, but the actress playing her decided to leave the show during it's run to pursue her career. Hense why she's killed off in episode 6. It's also why during the Phantom Militia arc there's a revolving door of Girls-of-the-Week, they were filling in roles meant for Yukiko.
  • Pop-Culture Urban Legends: A notorious one for both Japan and the genre of Tokusatsu. Due to one of the rebroadcasts of the show in the 80s abruptly ending on the penultimate episode where Iron King is turned Brainwashed and Crazy by the Titanians it resulted in the spreading of a rumor of a lost final episode of the original Ultraman where the series ended with the titular hero becoming evil and destroying humanity.
  • Similarly Named Works: Unless you use specific words, trying to Google this series will undoubtedly lead you towards the novel THE Iron King.
  • What Could Have Been: The original design for Iron King was deemed too dark and monstrous for the protagonist of a kids' show, so instead they created a design that was much similar to Ultraman and the original design was reused for one the Shiranui Clan's mechs in a very early episode.
