Trivia / House Party (2017)

  • Author's Saving Throw: While the Doja Cat expansion pack was generally regarded positively, one of the most criticized parts of it was that you couldn't have explicit sex with the titular characternote  or even see her fully nude. In response, the developers wrote in the announcement for the second expansion pack that they'll prioritize explicit content going forward.
  • Colbert Bump:
    • The game got a lot of attention from the Game Grumps playthrough, especially after the Grumps won a contest to have characters based on them in the game.
    • The Achievement Hunter playthrough brought the game a lot of attention.
  • Dummied Out: The Simon Says opportunity was available in earlier versions, which involved you blackmailing Madison using the nudes on her phone at the cost of sinking your relationship with her. You could force her to pose and strip for you or walk around the party in her birthday suit. After version 0.9.3, it was removed citing instability with other content, but can still be accessed with a couple console commands.
  • Executive Meddling: Shortly before the release of the Doja Cat Expansion Pack, one of the devs has gone on record to state that since she's directly involved with the DLC's development, there would be limitations based on her comfort level. This is reflected in-game where you won't be able to grope her, get her character nakednote  or be able to get her to have sex with other characters, not even with console commands. Her intimacy scene is also noticeably more tame than the other sex scenes (even if you own the explicit content addon) and gets interrupted by Frank early on.
  • The Other Darrin: The developers lost contact with the original actor voicing Derek during the game's long trip through Early Access, and he'd left his casting agency by the time they wanted to get him back to record new lines for Derek's friendship/romance route. As a result, they ended up re-recording all of the character's voice lines with a new (and noticeably different-sounding) actor for the Derek update.
  • Promoted Fangirl: Sort of. According to her social media, Leah's voice actor is a fan of Game Grumps, whose Let's Play of the game gave it a Colbert Bump early on, before the character of Leah was introduced. They eventually ended up working together on the project (though they never actually met during production) when the Grumps ended up making an extended cameo in one of the game's secret routes.
  • What Could Have Been: A scene was considered where the in-game version of Dan would flirt with Rachael as a reference to Dan calling Rachael cute during the Game Grumps playthrough, but Dan turned down the offer because it felt disrespectful to his real-life then-girlfriend.
