- Blooper: In Hellfire S, the themes of Stage 2 and Stage 4 are mixed up; Stage 2 uses "Mystic Green" rather than the intended track "Egypt", and vice versa.
- Creator's Oddball: This and Zero Wing are the only two horizontal shmups made by Toaplan, while the other 15 shmups they produced are vertical.
- Late Export for You: The European Megadrive version of the game was released in 1992, two years after the Japanese and American versions.
- No Export for You:
- Hellfire S and the Zero Fire compilation were never released outside of Japan.
- Inverted with the game's inclusion in the Sega Genesis Mini 2. Despite the porting work being done by a Japanese team, it is available only on the North American version of it; even the Japanese version does not have it!
- Due to Evercade products being only marketed in North America and Europe, the same goes for the Toaplan Arcade 2 cartridge that includes this game.
