• Creator's Favorite Episode: Alex Hirsch considers this episode to be the show's best example of the tone he wants it to have: the perfect mixture of terrifying, silly, and fantastical.
• Executive Meddling: Disney originally wanted the use of Ave Maria to be removed, as they were afraid people would find it offensive due to being a religious song.
• What Could Have Been: According to the commentary, there was a point in production where Dipper accepted Bill's deal knowing Bill would possess him. The crew felt like such a dumb move was too out of character, and made Dipper unlikable due to his stupidity. It was changed to Dipper being manipulated about the rules of the deal, along with several other factors that made him pressured and desperate, as they felt it was the only circumstance in which Dipper could believably make a deal with Bill.
