- Follow the Leader: The 1967 film Gappa is more or less a complete rip-off of Gorgo. Except Gappa has both a mom and a dad who both have Breath Weapon and the setting moved to Japan.
- Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Gorgo was a sizeable hit in Japan, enough that it was reportedly a factor in Toho's decision to make more Godzilla movies during the Showa Era.
