Trivia / Final Fantasy Brave Exvius

Go To

  • Ascended Fanon: Players used certain names to group skills with the same hitframe in order to tell which unit can chain with whom. In the version 3.7.1 update, Gumi added a quality-of-life upgrade that marks which skills belonged in which chaining families using the initials of these names (with the exception of Graviton Cannon which was localized to Short-Ranged Graviton, but the actual mark uses Graviton Cannon's initials, and Absolute Mirror of Equity, where the fans usually used the abbreviation for the skill's Japanese name of Absolute Tranquility), presumably so that the community didn't have to relearn new names for the chaining family.
  • Creator's Favorite: In the artbooks series producer Kei Hirono says his favorite character is Dark Fina, while the main scenario writer Yukinori Kitajima prefers the amnesiac Fina.
  • Dummied Out:
    • The Ayaka event introduced a new hybrid format. This was a mix between story events (that provided a short story) and the Mog King events. After finishing the short story about Ayaka and Gouken, you farmed Ayaka's stages for candy materials, used them to craft memory candies, and from there, you turned them into the Minister of Moogles to get materials that were normally dropped in story events (like Giancrysts and Purecrysts). Despite Purecrysts being unprecedently easy to obtain, this style flopped. Most people ran story events for the high drop rates for low-end crystals, which were the main source of the bottleneck for enhancements. In short, the event saw a low repeat rate once people got enough Purecrysts and Giancrysts, and it was dummied out in both Global and Japan.
    • Some wondered why there was an extra space after the Global-exclusive 5-star units (like Fryevia, Olive, and A2). The spaces seemed arbitrary until Japan's 2nd anniversary, when 7-star units were revealed. The purpose of these "skipped slots" became clear: they were placeholders for their future 7-star forms. This has big implications, possibly foreshadowing a future NieR: Automata collaboration, and showing that Gumi had this system planned for a long while.
    • Sprites for a unit version of Evan exist within the game's files, but he has yet to be released as a playable unit.
  • Executive Meddling: Presumed to be the reason why Eve was added into the normal gacha, despite being designed as a raid gacha unit. According to Gumi's document leaks, Operator 6O was planned to be released in the second 4-star slot with 9S, and Eve would be in the raid gacha with his brother Adam. For whatever reason, she was scrapped, Eve was moved to the normal gacha despite being a near-carbon copy of his brother, and 9S split the on-banner rates with a blatantly inferior unit compared to the 3-star.
  • Schedule Slip: In theory, the content in the Japanese version of Brave Exvius will eventually be brought over into the Global version. However, the order in which the content gets brought over is not the same as it was in the Japanese version. Some of this gets bumped for what Gumi thinks will be better received, some of it is due to different elements getting tweaks over the Japanese version (it's not uncommon for levels to get nerfs or buffs, for minor mechanics changes to occur, or for units getting new abilities in the Global version), some is to give a reason for people to pull on 5-star bases (like Warrior of Light's 6-star for Wilhelm), and some is just left as a mystery. In particular, the Dragon Quest Crossover event had been cancellednote  because the game in question (Dragon Quest of the Stars, which eventually saw release in the West in 2020) was only released in Japan and southeast Asia.
    • This leads to weekly pitchforking whenever overpowered units or enhancements are delayed. Specifically, Warrior of Light and Tilith's 6-star upgrades were delayed for 2 months, Balthier saw a six-month delay (despite Veritas of the Flame, who is of similar power being released shortly after his previously-scheduled event in Brave Exvius), and Ramza's enhancements were delayed for a staggering *nine months*.
    • On the other hand, Global gets certain quality of life updates earlier than Japan, specifically the crystal change (that led to the crystal color equaling the base rating), and the 3% rainbow update. The former was scheduled to come in May of 2017, but came in March, and the latter came in November despite being expected in January of 2018.
    • According to the recent major leak, The Kingsglaive Event was originally scheduled to be on August 25th 2017 but was delayed for some unknown reason. It was then scheduled to be released on September 22nd 2017 but because of the major hack that happened to Gumi's servers, it was delayed again. It's finally releasing on October 13th 2017.
    • The rift got bigger as of April 2020, as Gumi decided to release their version of the Dark Visions recurring event earlier, at the cost of five events disappearing from the Global schedule: The dual unit Raid event note , the raid that brought Awakened Cloud of Darkness, the other raid that brought Ceodore and Ursula, and the Story Events for Elnath and Jan Pinyon, plus a number of Series Boss Battles went missing after the Final Fantasy X event that brought Star Player Tidus note . With the schedule advancing for Advent Children Cloud and Tifa, and the advance of new units for Vanille and Fang, many players now gave for certain that Gumi has skipped over an entire month of events to push the Esper Units' meta, leaving some highly miffed and starting another debate over Gumi's handling of their own event schedule. With the content rush going straight into the Neo Vision era and outright skipping more units (Dagger and Summoner Scion Eiko seem to be the newest victims and the Neo Vision era basically kills any chance these units had to come to Global), even moreso with the Yoshikiri debate exposing just how rushed the new tier of units was in Global, and with Neo Sol and Summer Fina & Daisy, two hyped units being seemingly delayed/skipped, the Neo Vision debate has finally come to a head and turned into a shitstorm.
    • Story Events have all but disappeared amid Gumi's rush for the Neo Visions era, with the last one being "Genesis of Chaos", meant to tie from the end of Season 2 and into Dark Visions. People were already miffed that Elnath was a skipped event, but then the SEs for Fina's party in Season 3 were nowhere to be seen while Gumi basically rushed the entire meta with sequential Mog King and Raid events for the better part of three months. Gumi skipped these events in favor of Neo Visions, which for some might just be the last straw, as the Fourth Anniversary was for the most part held in a extremely low regard, especially because of the thinly veiled Neo Vision rush. The Elephant in the Living Room created by Gumi's content rush became fully visible with the Memoria exploration map for Kuja's Mog King event, which shows Cleome already in Fina's party, something the player doesn't get to see until the end of Chapter 4-2, which was slated to come only weeks later, at the end of August. Neo Firion's event makes that elephant far worse as its exploration is placed during Season 3's Chapter 7 note , as Chorale's team has officially joined Fina's side by then. Hiroki tried to address the problem in the 4th Anniversary livestream, even commenting Gumi will have to seriously buff Fina's party due to the arrival of Neo Visions. However, with the handling of Neo Visions being visibly worse than JP and the jumbled schedule being made worsenote  after that, player patience in general ran thin enough: Global might just have found their own version of the Summon Fest Fiasco, with general opinion of the Global version hitting an all-time low and a chunk of the players outright quitting the game and/or moving their investment to other gachas.
  • Meme Acknowledgement: Hiroki Fujimoto, Producer of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, wore a T-shirt with "SoonTM " written on it during 2019 NYC Anniversary Stream.
  • What Could Have Been: Sol's Season 2 unit was supposed to have a CG Limit Burst, but Hirono decided against it for feeling his likeness was too grotesque (the fact that his Limit Burst has him summoning the Chaotic Darkness doesn't help). This later would be rectified with his Neo Vision unit, after two years.
  • Word of God: During the Summer Livestream that introduced Elena, the directors said she was not in fact the Veritas of the Frost, but confirmed that Veritas of the Frost and the as of yet unseen final Sage of Hess (likely the Sage of Lightning) would both be major characters in War Of The Visions. Hence Gilgamesh and Amnelis showing up in Chapter 5 onwards of the game.
