- Content Leak: Much like with Dragon Ball Xenoverse, several files and access to debug mode found within the game ended up giving away its initial DLC plans, specifically Whis and Beerus.
- God-Created Canon Foreigner: The game introduces an original character by Akira Toriyama: Bonyu, a former member of the Ginyu Force.
- The Original Darrin:
- In the English version, Dameon Clarke reprises Borgos of Team Bardock after Christopher Sabat filled in for Dragon Ball Legends.
- Sean Teague reprises Uub for the "Goku's Next Journey" DLC after Justin Briner filled in for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.
- The Other Darrin:
- Due to Unshō Ishizuka succumbing to esophageal cancer on August 13, 2018, Mr. Satan is now voiced by Masashi Ebara.
- In addition to replacing the late Hiromi Tsuru as Bulma, Aya Hisakawa also replaces her as Baby Trunks.
- Ichirō Nagai died in 2014, so Hiroshi Iwasaki replaced him as Tsuru Sen'nin (Crane Hermit).
- Kōzō Shioya is still alive and still voices Majin Buu in this game, however in the Bardock DLC, he was replaced by Yasuhiro Takato as Totepo (Borgos) who had also replaced Shioya as Guldo in Dragon Ball Z Kai.
- In the English dub, Daman Mills once again fills in as Frieza for Chris Ayres. He also replaces Duncan Brannan as Smitty despite the latter reprising his main role as Babidi.
- For the History of Trunks DLC, Alexis Tipton voices teenaged Future Trunks instead of Eric Vale.
- Kyle Phillips replaces John Swasey as the Cell Games Announcer despite the latter reprising Dodoria.
- Oddly, Baby Goku's cries are done by Kristen McGuire instead of Colleen Clinkenbeard.
- The 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai DLC has young Chi-Chi being voiced by Brittany Lauda, replacing Laura Bailey.
- The "Goku's Next Journey" DLC has Pan voiced by Jeannie Tirado, instaed of Elise Baughman.
- Pre-Order Bonus: There are multiple, depending on the version you buy, such as a soundtrack, Mercenary Tao's pillar as a mount, and a pretty slick looking diorama.
