- Creator's Favourite Episode: Louise Jameson regards this as one of her best stories due to it being written by Chris Boucher. It was however during the making of this serial that she decided to leave at the end of the series.
- Hey, It's That Place!: The exterior scenes were shot on the Stargroves estate in Hampshire, which was owned by Mick Jagger. The same location had been used during the filming of "Pyramids of Mars".
- Real Life Writes the Hairstyle: Louise Jameson claims the reason her hair is done up in this story is because a BBC hairstylist had mistakenly cut six inches off her hair just prior to filming. Her final scene in the story was filmed some five weeks after this incident, by which time her hair had grown long enough to allow her to wear it down for a single scene.
- Reclusive Artist: The director of this serial George Spenton-Foster (who also directed "The Ribos Operation") has never been interviewed about his contributions to Doctor Who prior to his death in 1993.
- Throw It In!: Leela kissing Adam Colby on the cheek was ad-libbed by Louise Jameson. The surprised look on his face is genuine.
- What Could Have Been:
- Max Stael was originally supposed to shoot himself on-camera, but this was rejected as being too dark.
- Michael Gough and Robert Hardy were amongst those considered for Dr. Fendahlman.
- You Look Familiar:
- Wanda Ventham (Thea Ransome) had previously appeared in "The Faceless Ones".
- Scott Fredericks played a guerilla in "Day of the Daleks".
