Trivia / Clergy

Go To

  • California Doubling: Large sections of the film were filmed in the Czech Republic.
  • Playing Against Type: Jacek Braciak is usually cast as push-overs or Extreme Doormat characters and rarely as part of the main cast. His priest Lisowski is a cunning, extremely ambitious political animal keeping everyone in check and using people as pawns for minor favours. On meta-level, the character still looks like a harmless wimp, so nobody takes him seriously, until they try to double-cross him.
  • Production Posse: Various actors already worked with Smarzowski in his previous films, which was also the main reason why they've agreed to star in this project. It ranges from leads to people playing extras.
  • Sleeper Hit: Downplayed. While it was obvious from the very start this film would easily attract interest due to the subject and director, nobody expected breaking the box-office records and attendance so high that tickets had to be booked few days in advance, an event unheard in Poland since the 90s.
  • What Could Have Been: The initial script was almost entirely focused on Greed. While the premise and plot were greatly expanded from there, bits of it still survived to the final film. This is why so many characters, often seemingly out of the blue, are focused on money and materialism.
  • Working Title: Started out as Deep Platenote , then evolved to 3, and ultimately became Clergy.
