Trivia / Care Bears: Welcome to Care-a-Lot

Go To

  • Acting for Two: The most notable is that the voice of Grumpy Bear is also Beastly. But a number of others pull double duty as a major cast member and one other more minor bear, or other minor characters.
  • Portmanteau Series Nickname: The show's title is often shortened to W2CAL by fans.
  • Role Reprise: In the Latin American Spanish dub, all the voice actors of bears who appeared in Adventures in Care-A-Lot (except for Love-A-Lot Bear and Wish Bear) reprise their respective roles from that series. Share Bear would eventually have a voice actress change midway through the series (and midway through an episode by the way).
  • Screwed by the Network: Screwed by both Hasbro and The Hub. The right for the franchise along with Strawberry Shortcake, went from Play Along and Playmates respectively to Hasbro in late 2008. Hasbro meddled with the animation series production so that the animation rights of both two franchises would move to Moonscoop. The show only came out in 2012, and toys only appeared in 2013, and even then it was only distributed in the US, Europe and The Pacific, despite Hasbro having a worldwide presence. So what were they doing between 2009 and 2011? Nonetheless, when no second season of the show was announced in 2013, American Greetings were understandably unhappy about the way the franchise was treated, and the toy rights was revoked from Hasbro and given to Just Play Toys in 2014 as a result. Consequently, the show was canceled when The Hub was rebranded into Discovery Family in late 2014. However it got a Spin-Off- Care Bears & Cousins- thanks to Netflix.
    • But then Netflix decided to screw the show over a little to see how fans react. Welcome to Care-a-Lot was removed from Netflix in the US region since January 1st, 2017- apparently in favor of Adventures in Care-a-Lot (in some markets. Due to Screwed by the Lawyers, Adventures in Care-a-Lot isn't available in all countries. That means, in other countries, all they got was a whole host of dead air). Additionally, there was no new season of Care Bears and Cousins announced for 2017. Of course, fans weren't taking it lightly, and organized a mass live-chat campaign to have Netflix put the show back. Which didn't work. Ultimately what happened was American Greetings was planning a full reboot of the franchise and had planned to write Netflix out of the picture. Sure enough, the sequel, Unlock the Magic, is only available on Boomerang in the US.note
  • You Look Familiar: In the Latin American Spanish dub, Peter, the boy from the episode "Over Bearing", is voiced by Patricio Lago, who voice Oopsy Bear in Adventures in Care-A-Lot.
