• Actor-Inspired Element: The original script didn't have Jason and Nate in there. When Joe Jonas was cast as Shane, Disney added those characters in for Nick and Kevin to play so that they could turn the film into a vehicle for the brothers.
• Billing Displacement: The Jonas Brothers were billed equally in the promos for the first film, despite the fact that Nick and Kevin only played minor characters (and they were billed above Meaghan Martin and Alyson Stoner despite having much smaller parts) It's toned down in the second film where they get bigger parts and Nick's character even gets a love interest.
• Cast the Runner-Up: Chloe Bridges was up for the role of Mitchie. Although that part went to Demi Lovato, she was cast as Dana in the sequel.
• The Cast Showoff: To be expected, obviously, but notable moments include Joe Jonas playing guitar (which is a very rare occurrence) and dancing, especially as he has no former training in the latter and his brothers do most of the guitar-playing at shows.
• Creator Backlash:
  • Meaghan Martin suffered a lot during the sequel, she had mono while filming so she couldn’t do her best in all takes, and has said that she was bullied and berated during filing by the crew, especially “men 2x older” than her as she said. Meaghan had to work so hard and received so much belittling she fell asleep while taking a short break because she was getting so little rest.
  • Alyson Stoner later recalled how much they hated filming the climactic dance in the second movie, because it was a night-shoot in Canada in October - resulting in freezing temperatures, with it constantly raining on everyone, and all the actors were wearing summer clothes and had to act like they were enjoying it.
• Hostility on the Set: Meaghan Martin had mono while filming the second movie and said she was berated by the crew for not being to put her all into some takes.
• Non-Singing Voice: Jasmine Richard's song "Here I Am" was dubbed by Renee Sandstrom, since Richards cannot sing high enough notes on the track.
• On-Set Injury: Meaghan Martin dislocated her shoulder while filming "Too Cool For You".
• Real-Life Relative: Demi Lovato and The Jonas Brothers' parents were extras in the crowd for the "This Is Me" sequence.
• Star-Making Role: This put Demi Lovato on the map as a Teen Idol.
• Those Two Actors: Jordan Francis (Barron) and Aaryn Doyle (Lola) had previously worked together on The Save-Ums! as Custard and Foo, respectively.
• Throw It In!: One scene in the first movie sees Joe Jonas tripping while running, which was a mistake they decided to leave in.
• What Could Have Been: Selena Gomez was the first choice for Mitchie but she felt Demi Lovato was a better fit and turned the role down, knowing Demi would then be offered it.
