• Creator's Favorite Episode: Joss Whedon named this as one of his ten favourite episodes. Anthony Stewart Head also named it as a favourite.
• Deleted Scene: A line of Buffy's was cut:
  I think they might be in trouble-danger.
• What Could Have Been: Several characters were supposed to return for cameos, though in the end, only Seth Green, Mercedes McNab and Armin Shimerman were able to return. David Boreanaz and Charisma Carpenter were busy with Angel, making this the first season finale where they don't appear.
  • Willow's classroom scene was supposed to feature Larry, Amy and Cordelia, who would mock Willow's outfit in a Call-Back to "Welcome to the Hellmouth". In the end, their roles were given to Oz, Tara and Harmony.
  • Jenny was supposed to appear in Giles' dream pushing the baby carriage at the carnival, followed by Olivia crying in Spike's crypt. However Robia LaMorte, having become a born-again Christian, had been upset after learning that she was to play the show's equivalent to Satan in Season 3's "Amends".
  • In Buffy's dream, Faith was supposed to appear in the bedroom telling her to "be back before Dawn" and Angel was supposed to appear in the desert as the voice of the First Slayer. When neither David Boreanaz or Eliza Dushku were available, both roles went to Amber Benson.
