- Acting for Two: Seth Rogen plays both Herschel and Ben.
- Channel Hop: HBO Max acquired distribution rights to the film from Sony Pictures in early 2020 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic preventing a US theatrical release at the time. It thus became the first Max Original film (until it was removed from HBO Max in July 2022). It was still theatrically released in some countries such as the UK.
- Dyeing for Your Art: Rogen not being a fan of fake beards, grew a real one. He shaved it to shoot Ben’s scenes but he came up with a new 15 second scene, requiring Rogen to spend another 10 months to regrow it to shoot it.
- Fake Nationality: Seth Rogen is Canadian-American and plays the Eastern European Herschel. He also plays his fully American great-grandson Ben.
- What Could Have Been: Rogen had doubts about playing two parts so he brought in his friend Ike Barinholtz to read for Herschel and considered having him play the role.
