• What Could Have Been: Disney bought the film rights in 1996 for a whopping $10 million, hoping for a blockbuster that would match the success of Jurassic Park. Demi Moore, Sigourney Weaver, and Gwyneth Paltrow were reportedly all being suggested for the role of Casey. The project was ultimately shelved when Crichton did not approve any of the proposed scripts and he returned the money to Disney. (source 1)
