- Fan Translation: Aeon Genesis did one for the Japanese version of the first game, allowing English-speaking players to experience the game with its original difficulty intact.
- Franchise Killer: The sequel removed the sim portion of the game, and therefore the only aspect of the game which differentiated it from other side-scrolling platformers.
- Not only did the lack of a sim portion alienate fans of the first game, but the high difficulty (the game is very hard even on the easiest difficulty) alienated casual gamers. As a result, Actraiser 2 had difficulty finding an audience.
- Averted as of 2021's Actraiser Renaissance, a remake of the first game with a considerable number of additions to all aspects of the original game's systems. Topped off with hints for a potential Sequel Hook once you've beaten the post-game's new realm.
- Keep Circulating the Tapes: Actraiser 2 has yet to be re-released in any form.
- Production Posse: Director Masaya Hashimoto, writer Tomoyoshi Miyazaki, graphic designer Ayano Koshiro and composer Yuzo Koshiro were all former Falcom regulars at the time of the game's release.
- Studio Hop: The original games were developed by Quintet and published by Enix. For the Renaissance remaster, Sonic Powered handled development and Square Enix was its publisher.
