Tearjerker / Poké Wars

War sucks. For every moment that inspires awe, there are equally many moments that inspire tears. Poké Wars is no exception.

  • The death of Sabrina. In order to boost her already immense psychic powers to the level needed to mass teleport the group just before the city is destroyed, she willingly erases her memories. By the time of her death, all she remembers are social skills; her ownership of a Gengar and Alakazam; some of her Psychic Powers; and memories of Ash. She doesn't even get to die as herself because she doesn't even remember her own name.
  • The entire Battle of Goldenrod. In particular, the deaths of Whitney's Miltank and uncle, May's Skitty, Drew's Butterfree and Solidad's Lapras and Solidad herself pulling a Heroic Sacrifice. Doubles as Nightmare Fuel.
  • Professor Oak's dying words. Most notably, him telling Ash about the adventure they unknowingly had together in Pokemon 4Ever, how Oak met Ash's mother (who was killed in the first wave of attacks) and how he caught Ash's Pikachu specially for him as a gift.
    • Seymour the Scientist being evacuated to space by the Clefairy; despite how much he had dreamed of such a thing in the past he weeps, for it comes at the cost that he'll never be able to return home to Earth again. Additionally, the Clefairy mention to him that they're bringing a few humans with them for the purposes of potentially restarting the human race somewhere else. Far from being happy about this, Seymour panics, worrying about all the horrible what-ifs (his lack of experience with women or parenting, the possibility that the woman they chose will hate him, etc.) and is terrified that humanity could end up dying out because of him.
  • Volkner setting Sunyshore Tower to self-destruct after the failed last stand. After his plans to join the evacuation are derailed by the Kingler severely damage the tower and trapping him inside, he makes the decision to order the evacuation to proceed and leave him behind. And in the indeterminate timeframe between the evacuation order and the explosion, all he can do is reminisce about the memories he had with Flint and the first time he powered up the AI for the tower. In the end, when the AI warns that the shields are about to fail — signaling the impending explosion — all he does is close his eyes and say a single sentence: "See you on the other side, Flint."
  • Johanna getting pulled out of the Future Copter that the Team Rocket Trio used to carry the group to Twinleaf Town in an attempt to search for survivors. Even though she and her Pokémon make the best of their horrible situation and help the group flee, it doesn't make it less heartwrenching. Especially her last words before she's Devoured by the Horde after the rest of the group flee, leaving her behind: "Go and be safe. You're going to have to be strong now. I love you. Momma loves you so much, sweetie."
  • Ho-Oh's first encounter with Pokémon training in Pokélantis several hundred years ago did not go well for him. After he sees the Mind Raped Pokémon that were sent after him, he burns them all alive, reasoning that it's a Mercy Kill. Then when the mystics try capturing him, he kills them too, And then, he razes the city and kills all the inhabitants, including the women and children. You can just feel the anguish, regret and self-loathing in his voice as he's confessing his actions to Lugia. What's makes this even worse in hindsight is that at that time, he's fond of humans.
