- The way Polly looks at a picture of herself before she was burned.
- Daisy's suicide. Self explanatory, really, but it's even worse thanks to the Reality Subtext. And there's something about the way she drifts up the stairs after the brutal Hannibal Lecture Lisa gives her, as if she's lost all the will to fight back.
- Susanna's breakdown afterwards, especially the way she sobs into the phone for an ambulance, even though she knows full well it's too late.
- The scene with Susanna and Valerie in the former's room, after she's returned to the hospital following Daisy's suicide, especially given that Susanna's speech resonates with a lot of viewers:Valerie: What would you have said to her?
Susanna: I don't know. That I was sorry. That I will never know what it was like to be her. But I know what it's like to want to die. How it hurts to smile. How you try to fit in but you can't. You hurt yourself on the outside to try to kill the thing on the inside. - Lisa's breakdown near the end where she collapses in tears. Her sorrowful howls are particularly heart wrenching.
- Polly's breakdown where she screams "My face!" over and over again.
- Lisa looking exhausted and miserable in that hospital bed is sad in itself, but her showing Susanna that she's human for the first time hits hard.Lisa: I'm not really dead.
