• Molly's death considering she honestly trusted Eva and was even reminiscing about how nostalgic it was for her to brush her hair
• Ellen's Accidental Murder of her own daughter and how broken it left everyone involved, but the scene where, after searching everywhere for answers, Kevin learns his wife was responsible and saying that he wanted to be dead instead and pushing Ellen away.
  • Her subsequent suicide in season two is even more tragic. Worse, she cannot be buried with Maggie due to strict Catholic rules. Kevin (with help from Francis) has to cremate her corpse and let the ashes spread over their daughter's grave.
• Prior to the above, Kevin's confrontation with Francis in the church about the latter's involvement in the tragedy (the affair with Ellen, making her pay for an abortion and subsequently putting her in the asylum). It ends with Kevin putting his gun against Francis' head, who has become so consumed with guilt that he begs Kevin to do it. And all of this comes before we learn about Francis killing everyone who knew about the abortion....
