    Season One
1x03: Leavin' On Your Mind
  • The look on Waverly's face after Shorty's death.

1x05: Digging up Bones

  • This is one of the first episodes where it becomes clear that not all Revenants were evil murderers. Some were just unlucky enough to be caught in Wyatt Earp's line of fire. Two such examples are gay lovers: Levi and Fish.
    • The look of sadness on Fish's face upon seeing Levi badly burned after being dragged over the boundary line.
    • And the way they hold and comfort each other. Enough to even move Wynonna.
    • They've also accepted their fate of being sent to Hell by Wynonna.
Fish: It was always gonna end this way. I don't want to live, waiting for either of us to be shot down by the Heir. That's no life.

    Season Two

2x05: Let's Pretend We're Strangers

  • Holy hell does Officer Haught have a sad puppy face when Possessed!Wynonna starts fucking with her about Waverly.

2x08: No Future in the Past

  • Near the end, where Juan Carlos is so badly hurt, that Dolls has to shoot him to end his misery.
  • Also when Waverly discovers that Nicole lied about the DNA tests not arriving to protect her from the truth. Her justification? "Because I love you." Naturally, Waverly does NOT take it well.

2x09: Forever Mine Nevermind

  • Where to even begin? This entire episode is filled with sadness.
  • First off, Waverly is still mad at Nicole for lying about the DNA tests. Widow Beth even senses this tension and attempts to manipulate them.
  • The look of jealousy on Nicole's face when she sees Beth clearly flirting with Waverly.
  • Widow Beth defended Tucker's creepy actions as a way of showing that he loved Waverly in his own way. Naturally, Nicole was not happy to hear this, which just causes even more tension with Waverly already.
Waverly: Sometimes lying is a kindness.
Nicole: Yeah, I tried that. With you. And look at us now.
  • The scene at Shorty's where Waverly is still upset about her fight with Nicole.
  • How does Waverly respond to Nicole's numerous apologies by texts and voice messages? By sending this hurtful text:
"Dear control freak, I will talk to you when I want to talk to you. Until then, have a nice life hurting the people that you love."
    • And that's not even the worst part! Soon after the text, she makes out with Rosita.
    • Only after this does Waverly feel the gravity of her actions
    • And to further rub salt on the wound, Waverly later finds Rosita seemingly dead, and Tucker is still alive and there to "rescue" Waverly.
  • Tucker compels Waverly to call Wynonna and tell her she's skipping town.
    • Doubles as Fridge Horror, when you consider what Tucker may have done to Waverly had Rosita not have been a Revenant all along.
  • Dolls and Jeremy discovering the real Mercedes and Beth Gardner, stripped of their faces. Beth is dead, and Mercedes is unable to even talk.
  • Later the next morning, Waverly remembers the awful things she said to Nicole, and decides she may need space. Luckily Rosita encourages Waverly to go and make things right with her.
    • And a good thing too, considering that when Nicole answers her door hoping to see Waverly, but instead finds Widow Mercedes.

2x10: I see a Darkness

  • Seriously, bring a lot of tissues before you watch this episode. You will need them.
  • The whole time Waverly calls 911 after Nicole gets hurt is clearly heart-wrenching. She's trying to keep Nicole conscious and awake.
  • Wynonna's reaction to seeing her friend stripped of her face is truly heartbreaking.
  • Waverly is clearly freaking out the entire episode. Losing your girlfriend is bad enough, but losing her while you're fighting? That is truly terrifying.
Waverly: Oh god, she can't die while we're still fighting!
    • And on top of it all, Waverly, feeling so guilty about what she did, confesses to Wynonna about having kissed Rosita. And what's worse is that in the midst of her confession, she also lets it slip that Rosita's a revenant. After telling Rosita that she wouldn't say it! Waverly really needs to think before she speaks.
      • And Rosita's reaction to this revelation was very heartbreaking. She saved Waverly's life and in return, her secret was let out.
  • Nicole's conversations with Wynonna and Waverly before going unconscious were truly heartbreaking.
    • First Nicole begs Wynonna to pull the plug if her life can't be saved. Her reasons? Because Waverly would never have done so, and because Wynonna is the only one she will forgive.
    • And then we have her conversation with Waverly which was probably the most tearjerker moment in the entire series. Nicole continues apologizing for her mistakes, and Waverly tries to reassure her that everything will be fine.
      • And right before Nicole goes under, she just has to say this:
"No matter what happens, I need you to know, that I have never loved anyone the way I love you!"
  • And even at the end, after Nicole's life is saved, the sorrow doesn't end:
    • Gretta, Maddie's sister, makes a wish on the trophy to wish Wynonna out of existence. It works, badly.

2x11: Gone As a Girl Can Get

  • Doc learns that in the alternate timeline, he took over the Revenant gang, murdered Nedley, enslaved Rosita, and instituted a reign of terror.
  • Doc and Dolls perform a Mutual Kill.
    • Doc uses his last breaths to beg Waverly to fix things. She later has a grief-stricken breakdown in front of Nicole.
    • Dolls doesn’t remember their friendship, but feels empty at killing him.

2x12: I Hope You Dance

  • Rosita's betrayal of the team due to Wynonna's earlier threats. She sadly admits that she had grown genuinely fond of them, until that caused her to believe she could never trust an Earp.
    • Waverly is forced to shoot her to save Wynonna, despite their bonding.
  • Doc reveals that he went to Hell after Dolls killed him in the alternate timeline.
  • Wynonna is forced to give up her daughter, immediately after giving birth, or else she'd be hunted by the Revenants.
Wynonna: You're the coolest thing I ever did...

    Season Three

3x02: When You Call My Name

  • Dolls' death at the end.

3x05: Jolene

  • Waverly bore the worst of it in this episode. Jolene subtly turned everyone against Waverly: Wynonna calling her half-sister, Nicole yelling at Waverly and accusing her of never thinking about her, and finally Doc calling Waverly a demon all push Waverly over the Despair Event Horizon.
"I think Nicole just dumped me and I don't even blame her. I yelled at Wynonna. Mama's going to go back to jail and I feel like it's all my fault?"

3x12: War Paint

  • Waverly being pulled into the Garden is bad enough, but seeing Wynonna's look of terror is truly heart-wrenching.
    • And right before being pulled in, the sisters have this conversation:
Waverly: Listen, can you tell Nicole?
    Wynonna: You tell her!

     Season Four
  • The revelation that the strange man Jeremy has been talking to in a support meeting is Robin with a brand new face. Jeremy explains to Wynonna that when they were captured at the end of season three, Robin tried to escape but fell into the fog surrounding the town and by the time he was rescued a week later, was so mad he literally tore his face off. Now, he has a new face but no memories his "boss" is the man he loves.
