Due to the dark tone of this comic, you will expect that the comic will be nothing but raw, heartfelt, hopeless, brutal, and downright emotional. So you better grab your tissues and prepare yourself because this is going to be a hell of a ride...

  • Lapis and Peridot discovering Steven's corpse. You can clearly see how distraught they were as shown by their profusely spilling tears.
    • Considering how Steven meant so much to them as he influenced them to be the person they are right now, it would be a no surprise that they would be extremely desperate to save him by any means.
    • Bismuth also seems to try her best not to cry in front of them as she takes Steven back to his house.
  • Lapis's futile attempt to bring Steven back to life. You can see by every second, Lapis is growing desperate to revive Steven, even going as far as to force Pink Steven to cry, causing Bismuth to intervene. Speaking of Bismuth...
  • When Bismuth attempts to calm Lapis, you can clearly see tears welling up in her eyes, trying her best not to have a mental breakdown just like Lapis.
    • What makes this scene genuinely heartbreaking is that Lapis asks Bismuth if she wants to save Steven, and she is truly hurt by this, causing her to ask back how she could be asking that, leaving Lapis stunned and speechless as she realized how insensitive she was.
    • Every dialogue that Bismuth speaks is filled with pain and anguish. In addition, a reader can see how much Bismuth wants to cry just as hard as everyone else, but because she needs to act mature to handle the situation, she couldn't.
  • And we finally have the biggest tearjerker of em' all so far: Greg's reaction. Just when the reader thought that the problem was resolved, things got even worse when Greg barged into Steven's house looking for him. However, he discovered Steven's body shortly and went into full mental breakdown despite Bismuth trying to explain the situation. The only thing the remaining crystal gems could do is watch Greg cradling his only son's corpse in guilt.
    • Out of all the characters' reaction in the fan comic so far, Greg had the worst out of all. First, Greg lost the love of his life Rose, and eventually his only son that he promised to take care of: Steven Universe. Knowing that his loved ones are all gone, Greg is nothing but a hollow man without any loved ones. Absolutely heartbreaking.
    • In addition, this comic would serve the reader as a reminder of how parent's children means so much to them. Without their loved ones, they would go into an endless despair without any chance of recovery. Perhaps this will serve a lesson for readers that every worst parent's nightmare is losing their child.
  • Pearl's regeneration post-Rejuvenation as Mhm'Bob's bright-eyed, fully devoted new servant. The sight is enough to cause the tears Bismuth's been holding back to start trickling out despite her best efforts, as she apologizes to Lapis for putting her into the awkward position of serving as her temporary master.
  • Chapter 4 opens with Greg still weeping over his son's body, looking up to Rose's portrait and questioning what she would have done. Would she have been able to protect their child better than he did...?
Greg: What would you do? Rose? Should I have stopped him? He's a Gem, like you, and- I wanted him to know his Gem heritage. If I'd done more, been more involved, then- How can you protect someone who thinks he can fix the universe...?
    • Then, he notices Spinel's gem, and tries to shatter it with a bat. Yes, you read that right: Greg Universe, somebody who wouldn't ever hurt anybody, wants to murder a gem in retaliation for killing his son. While doubling as Nightmare Fuel, it shows how much sorrow and despair can bring the worst out of even the most innocent people.
