Incarnate (Fanfic)
- The revelation that Sunset is the daughter of Princess Celestia and Mirror King Sombra, and was intended to be a soulless living weapon against Nightmare Moon. Sunset does not take it well, at one point telling Princess Celestia that she used to cry herself to sleep wishing she was her mother. After she runs back to the human world to runs off to a private spot by a lake, throws increasingly larger rocks into in the water in frustration and ultimately sinks to her knees screams at the skies "What am I?!".
- Sunset's not the only one the revelation hurts, Celestia genuinely loved her daughter from the moment she first held her and gave up her plans to turn her into a soulless weapon. She thought Sunset would be better off not knowing their true relation and instead raised her a student. However, this did far more harm then good and played a major part in why Sunset became who she was before the Fall Formal.
- When both Twilights find Sunset, she devolves into a rant about how worthless she feels, calling herself a failed weapon and disobedient attack dog. Sci-Twi cuts her off and tells her about her struggles accepting her sexuality and attraction to Sunset and her first time with Timber which she did not enjoy.
- Celestia is finally reunited with Mirror Sombra, only to see the noble king she fell in love with has become a monster who destroyed his entire world and is now holding their daughter hostage, and is willing to torture her to have her meets his demands.
Gods and Monsters
- By the time the main story starts all the main characters who weren't immortal have passed on.
- Sci-Twi's breakdown after she and Sunset outlive Sunna, their youngest daughter. Sunset's not doing much better as she tells her wife that inside she's a mess but plans on holding off because Twilight needs her support right now.
- Celestia's death in chapter 20, nuff said.
- As her life was linked to Celestia's, Philomena will soon die too. Sunset offers to bond with her, but the Phoenix refuses, after she's gone Raven tells Sunset she's sorry who only replies that she's tried of loosing everyone she cares about.
- Balius erasing Sunset's memories in the River of Forgetfulness, causing her to forget her entire life, including her reunion with the spirits of Celestia and Good King Sombra. To make it worse Aine, Mother Creation herself, states that even she can't undo the rivers effects.
- Twilight spending time with the mare she loves, who has no memory of her really hurts to read.
- Sunset's memories are restored thanks to coping them and sealing them in her and Sci-Twi's wedding rings but the process causes the rings to turn to dust.
