    General
  • When the heroines defeat the demons, you don't care about the enemies. But what if the heroines kill the demons that have similar hairstyles as the heroines have...? Makes Worse with Context when you check Chapter 4 Episode 5 onwards in the main story. The worst part? There's nothing you can do for those slain heroines and their alternate selves who are corrupted into demons besides killing them for good.
  • You might also think about zombified alternate selves of the heroines. They're just innocent victims who get turned into near-mindless parasite zombies due to Earworm fungi. It seems that Kamisaman, Tobio, and the heroines can't help but kill them for good.
  • In some of the Dress substories, adult scenes aside. There are some realities where Tobio betrays the trust of the girls involved, in Aka's Phoenix Dress story, he underwent a dangerous quest to catch the Phoenix for his sick sister who believed if she saw a Phoenix she would restore herself to full health. However, the village found her and decided to abuse her, it ends in a Downer Ending as Aka is upset she believed that Tobio betrayed her trust when she reappeared in front of him, believing that he was not the man she believed he was
Tobio: The last time I saw Aka's face as she left, she never turned her head away from me, her anger, sadness, betrayal and sorrow. I was called a hero by the town, but in my heart I have an emptiness that I can never fill.

    Main Story - 1st Arc
  • Not just horrifying, every heroine's death can be tragic to the other heroines, Tobio, the players and even the ones who play DX version.
    • The first major death has to be Kaori's during the Wham Episode that is Chapter 4, Episode 5, "End of the Daily Life" or "How Normal Ends". It comes with little warning, and serves as one hell of a Gut Punch. After a hard-fought demon battle, things look to be back to normal and everyone's talking about their plans when Akisa notices that the Flux still hasn't abated, meaning that there are more demons out there. And then she sees a demon behind Kaori about to attack her, and though she tries to warn her, by the time Kaori notices, it's too late. Kaori is grievously and mortally wounded, and though Lilly kills the demon responsible, no one (particularly not Omnis, who can't affect anything directly) can do anything to prevent Kaori's drawn-out and agonizing death from internal damage and blood loss. It is as heart-rending a moment as it is horrifying, and it only gets worse when she is then corrupted into a demon herself. To say that Nothing Is the Same Anymore is only mildly putting it.
    • The absolute nightmare that Omnis goes through during the fifth through seventh chapters during the "Groundhog Day" Loop that he has been going through to try to keep the Magical Girls he's awakened from dying horribly, only for people to die over and over and over again with every loop he undergoes, and the number of demons to accumulate over time. It takes a huge toll on him emotionally, and it only gets worse when White Omnis gives him a Breaking Speech concerning just what this loop has been doing to the girls he's been trying to protect, in particular, to those girls who have become demons, to the point that he can't even face them for a while. Only Iroha's Cooldown Hug is enough to prevent him from falling into complete despair over it all.

    Main Story - 2nd Arc
  • Lilly's straight-haired Alternate Self dies in the battle against the powerful Drake demon. This can be pretty much tearjerking because she's as wholesome as the "prime" version Lilly and she's one of fan favorite characters.

    Romance Arcs
  • During the fourth part of Marianne's romance arc, her manga gets torn to pieces and she is subjected to vicious gossip and bullying regarding a false rumor about her sleeping with perverts at Comiket, a convention she goes to due to her manga club membership. She very nearly gets in trouble with the administration, but though she is bailed out by Lilly, the damage to her reputation has already been done, with poor Marianne having to leave to be alone because she cannot take being stared at by everyone with the eyes of those who bullied her back in her middle school days.
