GURPS Asparagus is a fan-made supplement for GURPS created by 4chan. It gives rules and background information on asparagus for use in GURPS, including cultivating it, playing as it, and asparagus-related parallel worlds for use in GURPS Infinite Worlds. It can be found here.
GURPS Asparagus contains the following tropes:
- Apocalypse How: Implied Class 3 on Asparagus-1. There are no humans (nor any other complex life), but the growth patterns of the parallel's asparagus mimic those of human populations.
- Artistic License – Botany: The "secretly an allium" lens. Any gardener can tell you that an onion's leaves look nothing like an asparagus stalk.
- Big Creepy-Crawlies: The aphids native to Asparagus-Omicron.
- Crack Fic: Of all the things to write a GURPS supplement on, asparagus?
- Fantastic Flora: Asparagus-Omicron features asparagus stalks the size of trees.
- Forbidden Fruit: On Centrum, asparagus went extinct as a result of biological warfare, and are jealous of Infinity's cultivation of it.
- Garlic Is Abhorrent: The "secretly an allium" lens includes the trait Social Stigma (Eww, onions)note .
- Heart Is an Awesome Power: The Path of Asparagus. While less versatile than the other disciplines of Ritual Magic, the Path of Asparagus makes up for it with power.
- Healing Herb: Using asparagus as an ingredient in herbal medicine gives a bonus to treat poisons.
- Interface Screw: The trait list for the fnord lens is entirely blacked-out.
- Misplaced Vegetation: Asparagus-1 features asparagus virtually everywhere, but no other life-forms.
- Nothing Is Scarier: Once Infinity realized that the growth patterns of Asparagus-1 mimicked human populations, they declared it strictly off-limits, lest such an event happen again.
- Plant Person: Downplayed. Rules for playing as intelligent, psychic (but not mobile or otherwise humanoid) asparagus are given.
- Psychic Powers: Available to asparagus players via the Enlightened lens.
