As a crossover of DC Comics & Sonic the Hedgehog, numerous references to both as well as other forms of media are present throughout the fic that is Advent Solaris.
- The title is intended partially as a reference to Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.
- Chapter 4 is titled "Truth" and Restoration, which is intentionally similar to Truth and Reconciliation from Halo: Combat Evolved.
- The G.U.N. aircraft carrier that appears from Chapter 8 through 12 is named for Thomas Kalinske, the Head of Sega's American division (approximately) from 1990 to 1996-97(ish), overseeing the very beginning of Sonic's lifespan.
- Silas Stone's ID number in Chapter 10 is actually a reference to the comic he first appeared in: the letters and numbers spell out DC Comics Presents #26, October 1980.
- The "Regal Ruins" excavation site is a subtly hidden reference to the Regal Ruin track in Sonic R.
- The Ra's Dam also mentioned in Chapter 10 is also a reference to both the Aswan Dam in real life Egypt but also to Ra's al Ghul. This one was also Foreshadowing of the real identity of Bialya's Queen.
- Many parallels between Rouge and Catwoman are drawn, with Rouge even remarking that she has a whip but just didn't bring it with her.
- Wally's inclusion in the story at all and the way he describes his removal from the previous timeline is a very obvious nod to DC Rebirth.
- The Changelings featured in the fic are themselves a Darker and Edgier take on the ones from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.
- The Queen of Bialya, Talia al Ghul, is the source of two subtle ones, you must pay attention to the details described of her outfits.
- Her first outfit, shown in a Chapter 12 flashback, is straight up the same as Queen Bee's from Young Justice (2010), barring a few minor details.
- Her second outfit, which she uses in Chapter 13 onward, is purposely described as similar to Ludmilla's from Bartok the Magnificent - just with a black-yellow color scheme.
- Chapter 13 has a small collection of them:
- The poetic intro to the second segment, "Larder", is actually taken from the lyrics of a song from Sol Invictus, the title of the song being Sawney Bean.
- The exchange between Barda and Gilotina, barring a few words, is practically the same as their exchange in Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. This is intentional, given the situation.
- Kalibak not long after that says to Shadow: "You're playing with the big boys now!"
- Mephiles at the very end shoots lightning out of his fingertips to electrocute Team Dark, only to then be thrown down into a pit by one of his children.
- When the Reach Fleet arrives at the end of Chapter 16 alongside the Space Colony ARK, it is meant to be reminiscent of the scene in Halo 2 when High Charity and it's protection fleet arrive at the end of the level Regret.
- The way Shadow kills Doctor Fate is indeed a reference to The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny, specifically to the part involving Chuck Norris.
- The first spin-off fic, Talia's Downfall, is named in reference to the Vergil's Downfall DLC for DmC: Devil May Cry.
- The scene in which Jessica Cruz nearly buries Lois Lane alive is very reminiscent of a scene in Saints Row 2 in which Shogo Akuji is met with the same fate. It even includes the burier dumping out a corpse that was already inside of the casket. However, in the game the burial itself was completed - whereas in the fic, it was prevented. It still came very close to happening, though.
- The scene in which Shadow obliterates Doomsday is very blatantly a shout-out to the Godzilla vs Zilla "fight"" in Godzilla: Final Wars. To a point that All to Blame by Sum 41 actually was playing during the scene.
