** In commentaries on the television news media, the show will often show the news media's hive-mind collective latches onto a particular key-word or -phrase and repeats it incessantly by means of a montage. They'll show sometimes upward of a dozen clips of different news anchors, reporters, and pundits repeating the same catch-phrase about an item, then end it with one of the talking heads (usually a Fox News pundit) saying something ... really bizarre, though still on-topic.

** In the single most playful and silly way, ''Arby's''. Jon often made hilarious jokes about the restauraunt's food. It was done entirely tongue-in-cheek, and the chain responded on his final episode with a video showing ''clips'' of his shots at them, set to the tune of "Thank you for being a friend", and with both text reading "For Jon, Love Arby's" starting the whole thing, with a playful shot of their own at the end with text reading "Not sure why, but we'll miss you." "Not to be confused with" cleanup.

Not to be confused with ''WebVideo/TheDalyShow''. While we're at it, Stewart himself is not to be confused with that African-American ComicBook/GreenLantern, or the singer/songwriter best remembered for writing Music/TheMonkees' "DaydreamBeliever".

** Jon dismissed the pissing contest between New York City and Chicago over which city had the tallest skyscraper in the country and urged everyone not to take the issue so seriously. Loads And Loads Of Characters is no longer a trope

* GrandFinale: While the show will keep going, Jon's depature from the show after nearly twenty years on the program (they alternated between calling it 16 and a half and 17 years in the run-up to his final show) was treated as this. With [[LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters almost every correspondant]] (and even the show's ''original'' host) coming back along with a multitude of guests and even some of his [[FriendlyEnemy on-screen and real-life on-air competition]] chiming in to give Jon a send-off unlike anything seen since Carson left the Tonight Show back in the late 80s. The whole show was capped off by the surviving members of ''Bruce Springsteen And the E Street Band'' playing Jon off in what was called ''his'' moment of zen. The entire crowd was pretty much invited to come onto the set to share in the farewell during this. If the show had legitimately ended with this broadcast, it would have probably been picture perfect in terms of how to end a LongRunner like ''The Daily Show''.
