Downtown Precinct (AKA Achat Efes Efes, literally One Zero Zero) is a 2011-2015 Israeli Police Procedural.

An Israeli Police Officer, Arik Arbel, finds himself in over his head when investigating the Russian Mob.


Downtown Tropes:

  • Cowboy Cop: Arik Arbel, an Israeli police officer, uses underhanded tactics against criminals and other offenders. In the first episode, he confronts and physically restrains an aggressive driver (who had attempted to assault him), making the latter promise not to drive aggressively in a school zone.
  • Cop Killer: Babayof arranges for a car bomb to eliminate the police tailing him, resulting in the death of Ivri, Arik's partner.
  • Dead Partner: Arik loses his partner in the police force, Ivri, to a car bomb.
  • External Combustion: Ivri is killed in the first episode when his car is rigged with explosives.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Babayof kills a subordinate, Rico, by shoving him off of a balcony and onto a steel bar which impales the latter in the first episode.
  • The Infiltration: In the first episode, Arik's partner, Ivri, poses as a gangster while meeting up with an actual criminal. He accuses the criminal of being an undercover cop to throw suspicion off of himself.
  • Le Parkour: Arik chases a suspect on foot in the first episode, with both the pursuer and the pursuant jumping off ledges and running into narrow spaces before Arik catches up.
  • The Mafiya: The Russian Mob appears as an antagonistic force of the series, led by Asarian Babayof.
  • Man of Wealth and Taste: Behind Babayof's well dressed and well spoken demeanour lies an utterly ruthless criminal.
  • The Mob Boss Is Scarier: Asarian Babayof is a ruthless mobster who is vicious towards civilians, police, and subordinates alike, shoving a subordinate off of a balcony for failing him in the first episode.
  • Parents as People: Arik is not an ideal father, occasionally neglecting his duties as a parent because of police business, but he still tries to make an effort to be a better father to his son than he had been previously.
  • Tranquil Fury: In his confrontation with the first episode's aggressive driver, Arik is visibly upset, but calm as he confronts the man.
  • Would Harm a Senior: The subplot of the first episode deals with youth subjecting seniors to physical abuse.
