"What are we, some sort of Divine Substitutes?"

They were

This roleplay provides examples of:

  • Elemental Punch: Several party members, but especially Tsuyo, like to lace their punches with their respective elements.
  • Element No. 5: Or six, or seven, or eight... The Aetheric Elements are all essential aspects of creation that go beyond simply water or fire, commanding aspects like Energy, or Antimatter, or Willpower.
  • Fusion Dance: The Wraiths in the party, due to lacking a solid body or soul, can fuse with the fleshier party members in order to temporarily create a new being.
  • Power of the Void: Jay derives his powers from The Void, and even uses it as an energy repository to perform Alchemy with.
  • Psychic Powers: The basis of Lucirian, from which Horizon derives her powers.
  • Pure Energy: Mana, the element of Energy, from which Tsuyo derives his powers from.
  • Rule of Cool: Not only used, but is a fundamental law of the world. Swords are superior to guns in the hands of a skilled enough wielder, and are in fact still a regular practice in a world of technology and interstellar travel.
  • Star Power: Silver Aether, called "Stars", appears like a spray of silver starlight and represents the fundamental element of Willpower. Theodore can also manipulate cosmic energy, which appears similarly, but is indigo in color.
  • Void Between the Worlds: Zigzagged. Rather than existing between the worlds, The Void (Home of the Wraiths) exists outside of them altogether.

Divine Substitutes

    Ainz Whitley
  • Magitek: Ainz's specialty, evidenced by the Deucalion Armor, which is powered by Ainz's own mana and their ability to talk to machines.
  • Nanomachines: Ainz has these coursing through their body at all times as a side effect of their past injuries. They also act as the explanation for Ainz's incredible sweet tooth and ability to ignore sleep.
  • Powered Armor: The Deucalion Armor, a magitek exo-suit and Ainz's main method of combat.
  • Technopath: Ainz's alpha gene, awakened artificially, allows them to interface with any machine they touch, which is used to control the Deucalion.

    Morokar

    York

    Jack Ablendan
  • Blade Spam: Jack uses Sword Magic, which allows him to extend and manipulate the trajectory of his sword attacks. in function, this appears as a tornado of slashes that allow him to cut more than once with a single slash.
  • Master Swordsman: Embodies this trope perfectly. All of his non-Light abilities are based around his sword and his master of it.
  • Katanas Are Just Better: Played with. Jack acknowledges that the weapon is lesser compared to other weapons like the longsword (Something also acknowledged by the former team leader, Zephyr). He just doesn't care.

    Theodore Leveilleur

    Grandis Infirma

    Tsuyo Kageyama
  • Chef of Iron: Tsuyo is a professional chef on his homeworld of Pluto. He's also a master of Ki who's practiced to be like the heroes of legend, and one of the strongest fighters on the team.

    Horizon

    Melissa Demore
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: Melissa uses Silver Aether, an element tied to the user's willpower not bound to a patron god. Understandably, she wasn't the happiest about not getting power from a god. On the other hand, this is the same element used by Reyna to stop the destruction of the entire World Tree through sheer force of will.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: Melissa isn't a fighter like the other champions, she's a normal singer who's never so much as picked up a weapon in her life. But she went as far as hybridizing herself in order to stand with her natural-born hybrid friends, which came with a sonic scream and detachable head.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Melissa started out as an angry noncombatant who was fleeing from bullets and gaining serious phobias during the Columbia raid. After training with Gaia, she's now a fighter on par with the rest of the team who can take on dragons and demons on her own.
  • Make Some Noise: Melissa's main attack is a Sonic Scream.

    Jay Grimoire
  • Alchemy Is Magic: Jay is an Alchemist by trade, even working on an incomplete Philosophers' Stone.
