Roleplay / Kalovka Youth Conference

Go To

Kalovka Youth Conference is a roleplay created by Skittle and Tobi on the Dabberwock Roleplay Network. It features 20 youths mysteriously sent back in time to appear in the titular conference, where they are to discuss world peace. Just before the conference starts though, one of the guards, Kazimir, murders the host and along with the robot furry Sputnik decides to run a killing game instead.

Due to the large amount of spoilers given the format, all spoilers before the finale are unmarked.

This roleplay features the following tropes.

  • Alternate Self: Alternate timelines are mentioned in the ending scene of chapter one, where the conference went ahead as planned. Later, in chapter 5, Kazimir shows many different versions of himself in the velvet room.
  • Arc Villain: In addition to Kazimir, each chapter features a killer responsible for that chapter's murder. In order, these are:
    • Rejirou for chapter one.
    • Micah for chapter two.
    • Madeline for chapter three.
    • Mao for chapter four.
    • Flapjack for chapter five.
    • In chapter 6, Arthur is the killer and the spy working for Kazimir. However, Sputnik is the main threat through the chapter as they attempt to find who the spy is.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: Flapjack spends most of the RP attempting to manipulate Kazimir into revealing the secrets of the game, and recruiting people to their army. Despite this though, they end up as just another killer without their machinations accomplishing anything, and don't even get properly executed.
  • Breaking Speech: Flapjack attempts to deliver these to Kazimir and the cast on multiple occasions, culminating in their final villain speech in the trial. They get so wrapped up in insulting and venting their rage at the cast that they fail to notice their wings shrinking to the point where they can no longer support their own weight.
  • Central Theme: Oddly enough, vore.
  • Dysfunction Junction: Not a single person in the conference is completely okay.
  • Eldritch Abomination: Flapjack is one.
  • Eldritch Location: The velvet room is a location entirely under Kazimir's control. Using it takes a lot out of him.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: Played with. Despite the cast being the ones moved to the past, Kazimir ends up surrounded by the kids from the future and as such is clueless about things they discuss- for example, Twilight and Poggers.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Madeline's death is the first to send the darker themes as the characters begin to grapple with the grief and loss of her death. Mao's death as the Morality Chain confirms the story's transition to Darker and Edgier territory and chapter 5's murder is a direct result of her death.
  • The Mole: Arthur, for Kazimir.
  • Morality Chain: Mao to like, half the cast.
  • Parental Abandonment: A common theme, and one of the reasons Madeline murdered.
  • Split Personality: Played with. These are both cases of a supernatural being hijacking the body of a mundane one, but they are treated like this by the cast.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Over the course of the last three chapters, Kazimir loses his appetite for killing kids.
