The Killing Game Participants find themselves spending a night imprisoned in the Weapon's factory with a knockout gas rendering them asleep at random intervals. This trial went on to become a full series. It has its own page at Class Trials CT 51

Class Trial 52

As the class struggles with Water Deprivation on Jabberwock Island, an explosion claims the life of Sonia Nevermind

Tropes for the Fifty-Second Class Trial
  • Accidental Murder: Despite not being the actual blackened, Kazuichi is ultimately the one responsible for the death, accidently killing Sonia in a trap that he'd designed.
  • Death by Pragmatism: Not trusting the letter inviting her out, Sonia snuck in early and ended up getting caught in a trap that was designed for her.
  • Kill the Ones You Love: Sonia's ultimately killed by the two boys who loved her, with Kazuichi building the bomb that she accidently set off and Gundham putting an end to her suffering.
  • Mercy Killing: Gundham gives Sonia one upon finding her after the explosion.
  • Sympathetic Murderer: Gundham not only sacrificed his life to give Sonia a more painless death, but also conspicuously avoids calling for a vote after Kazuichi's confession.

Class Trial 53

On the day after her birthday celebration, Hiyoko is found murdered in her own cottage.

Tropes for the Fifty-Fourth Class Trial

Class Trial 55

Himiko's magic show goes awry when Keebo's dead body falls out of the box after a Magic Sword Trick.

Tropes for the Fifty-Fifth Class Trial

  • Make It Look Like an Accident: Kokichi plants Keebo's body in the magic trick and arranges for Himiko to end up with a real sword, staging the death to look as though it took place because of her magic trick.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Kokichi's ploy turns out to have been a plot to use the BDA to prove both him and Miu innocent by making her into an unaware body discoverer and setting up things so that only one more person would find the body.

Class Trial 56

Kokichi is found dead in Angie's room. Shortly after, Angie is caught fleeing from Kokichi's room. What were they up to?

Tropes for the Fifty-Sixth Class Trial
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Ryoma becomes an Ultimate Despair.
  • Jackass Genie: Monokuma offers to provide a dream life for a student willing to kill and, when Ryoma takes him up on the offer, proceeds to turn Ryoma into an Ultimate Despair so that becoming a murderer would be his dream life.
  • Know When to Fold Them: Despite the accusation against him being inaccurate, Ryoma decides to confess nonetheless once it becomes clear that he can't talk his way out of it
  • Mugging the Monster: Realizing that somebody was trying to kill Angie, Kokichi lured out the killer to try and stop them. Unfortunately, the murderer turned out to be the physically superior Ryoma.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: The Summation against Ryoma

Class Trial 57

With Monokuma handing out special individualized motives and Miu handing out special game devices known as Z-Fighter, a double murder eventually hits the school as Ryoma and Himiko are found dead. This trial received a Sequel.

Tropes for the Fifty-Seventh Class Trial
  • Big Bad Ensemble: Both Angie and Kirumi turn out to be killers, albeit working entirely independently.
  • Depraved Bisexual: Teruteru at one point takes advantage of being allowed to send messages on the Z-Fighters by sending flirty texts to Tenko, Maki, and Kaito.
  • Never Suicide: Kirumi attempts to frame Himiko as a suicide.
  • Rube Goldberg Hates Your Guts: A Z-Fighter's message system and vibration settings are used to drop a spear on an unconscious Ryoma

Tropes for Class Trial 57- 2
A Death Crystal allegedly capable of killing anybody the user wishes is given to the students and placed under guard. However, the students' caution is not enough to prevent the murders of Kaede and Gonta

  • Absence of Evidence: Teruteru points out that a tape recorder that the killer used shouldn't have been necessary for Keebo, given that he has one built in. However, Keebo is unable to show off the built-in tape recorder function and Teruteru gives up on defending him as a result.
  • Artifact of Doom: The Death Crystal, although it is never actually used.
  • Compelling Voice: The voice in Keebo's head compelled him to commit murder.
  • Hiding Behind Religion: Kokichi has mockingly taken up Angie's Atua religion since her death for this trope's purposes.
  • Locked Room Mystery: Kaede is found behind a supposedly barred door, although it turns out that the door was never sealed and that Keebo merely faked being unable to break it down.
  • Swiss-Cheese Security: The security measures for protecting the Death Crystal prove inept enough that even Teruteru lampshades it.

Class Trial 58

After potential blackeneds are offered a chance to choose a friend to escape with them, Kazuichi & Gundham wind up being found dead.

Tropes for the Fifty-Eighth Class Trial

Class Trial 59

A game of Capture The Flag with life or death stakes ends with Tenko missing and Makoto Naegi murdered.

Tropes for the Fifty-Ninth Class Trial
  • Cold Equation: Makoto asks Mukuro to murder him in order to put an end to this motive that would've ended with at least 11 players dead.
  • Heel–Faith Turn: Kazuichi chooses to join Angie's cult at his lowest point when she is the only one to comfort him after a Heroic BSoD, regaining enough confidence to actually defend himself.
  • Heroic BSoD: Kazuichi has one during the Capture the Flag game, giving up his flag without a fight after growing sick of all the betrayals.
    • He has another one during the actual trial when he confesses to having given up his flag when his emotional confession receives insults in response, even refusing to defend himself when he becomes a suspect until Angie gives him an impromptu sermon.
  • Senseless Sacrifice: Some students are left questioning why Makoto would ask Mukuro to kill him and doom herself rather than simply commit suicide.
  • Sympathetic Murderer: Mukuro

Class Trial 60

Maki and Angie are found dead in the Art Room after Flashback Lights capable of revealing the future are distributed among the students.
